SOURCE: The AC Adapter makes a beeping noise and doesn't charge the batt.

I would verify that the battery will take a charge. If the battery is bad, the charger will tell you that it is not charged. It will not tell you why, just that it is not charged. If not plugged into the computor, again, battery is not charged. Hence, the beep.

Good Luck and hope this helps.

SOURCE: I heard a "snap" noise and my laptop shut down

Hello,

Most of the time when you hear that kind of noise and it was plugged into the AC adapter, a power surge hit your pc and it will need a new mainboard to power back on.

Sorry for the bad news.

I have a Toshiba Portege M780. My AC is plugged in and with battery but indicator(Orange) blinks several times and pauses, and then does it again. It will not turn on. How can I fix this?

If your laptop won't turn on with the AC adapter plugged in, I'm afraid you've got some serious problem with your motherboard.

Of course, the problem might be your battery burned out, so to test, remove the battery and plug in directly your AC adapter. No problem to do that, people use laptops with onlt AC adapter, without battery, to save battery life.

Did it turn on? if it did, buy a new battery, that should solve the issue.

If not, you should check if your AC adapter works. You need an electronic voltimeter/amperimeter and you should check output rating. It it is the specified, your charger is ok and the problem is in your laptop, you should take if to repair service.

Once again, if the problem is with your charger, get a GOOD charger, and test if you can charge your battery. Also, with a good chager and no other problem, your computer should power on.

My Toshiba Portege Z10t will not turn on. No lights, I have tried to start it with and without the power chord connected, have held the on switch down for up to 10 seconds with out any response. The u

Try this:
Unplug the charger from the unit (but leave it plugged into the wall outlet) and remove the battery. Push the power button and hold it down as you plug in the charger. You may have heard of soft boots and hard boots...this is like a super hard boot. If it starts up, you can reinstall the battery. Good luck.

Toshiba Satellite U405-S2824 startup beep code error

The beep you hear is a BIOS Beep Code. The computer's way of telling you something is wrong, and a general area to look into for it.

A short repeated beep over a long period, usually indicates a Ram Memory problem.

Remove ALL power to the notebook. Remove the AC adapter (Charger), and Battery.
Suggest you remove all ram memory modules, and clean the gold plated contact pins at the bottom.

Use a pencil eraser. If using an eraser on the end of a pencil, and not a solid eraser, refrain from letting the metal band touch the contact pins. Reinstall the ram memory module/s.

Reinstall the Battery, then the AC adapter. WAIT 1 minute, then turn the notebook on.

Post back in a Comment as to the results.

AC adapter/charger is attached, but the battery will not charge. it doesnt even show that the battery is there

Ifthe laptop battery is more than 3 - 4 years old then the battery could be wornout. Rechargeable batteries have a finite number of charge and discharge cyclesand will lose their charge capacity over time, i.e. won't charge to 100% andgradually the charge reduces until the battery won't charge up atall. ORThe battery shows a 100% charge but when the adapter is disconnected thebattery drops off to zero capacity in a very short time. Ifthe battery drops to an unacceptable charge level then the battery needs to bereplaced.

Had phone almost a year, no problems. Couldn't get it to turn off, so removed battery, now won't go on, tried all advise, cept battery out for 6 hours, will leave it out, but have you heard of this? Can...

Hi,

It could be that moisture got into the battery terminals. Take a Qtip and wipe the battery terminals inside the phone and also on your battery.

Then try installing the battery again and then hook up the AC charger. Try booting up. I had a cell phone once, it was a Nokia and it did something similar. I had plugged the car charger in while I was in the car and I heard a noise like it shorted. I took the phone to trade it in when I purchased a new Nokia and I noticed that the store clerk had taken my phone that would not boot up and hooked it to an AC charger. It powered up. I still purchased the new phone, but try the AC charger and see what happens. If it powers up, it might be the battery. Let the battery charge for about 4 hours, don't keep it charged overnight. Overnight charging will ruin the battery. If the phone still doesn't work, I'd say bring it in and see if you can get it looked at.

My Toshiba wont turn on. I tried holding the power

Hi there, Your ac adapter is damaged & that's why power does not transfer in your notebook. The capacitor of adapter is burned & that's why the noise started. Thanks & waiting for your feedback.

E6500 making a beeping noise

Does beeping noise happened before turning on laptop? If yes unplug the laptop from the AC Adapter. Just leave AC Adapter ON and connected to the power outlet. Check if AC Adapter is the one making beeping noise. Note: This is an issue with dell AC Adapter laptops
If no beeping noise in AC Adapter then proceed checking it from the laptop. Does beeping noise happened immediately when laptop is turned on? If yes then it might be laptop's hard drive creating the sound. Try to check the BIOS in your laptop under the category performance if the HDD Acoustic is ON either in Normal or Performance. Note: When laptop is in performance the hard drive makes noise due to its speed, this is normal if BIOS HDD Acoustic mode is ON to performance.
If the noise only happens when sometime while working on the laptop, this might be cause by the laptop fan. This also happens after turning on the laptop fan my have dirt and dust, please do check.
If fan was cleaned, HDD performance was checked and AC adapter was checked then, carefully sense if noise is coming from the internal speakers.
Download the latest BIOS update for your laptop then flash the BIOS. Make sure battery and AC adapter are connected when doing these.

When i plug my acer desktop in it only beeps and will not boot up. The monitor sill say no signal then turn black.

Check your RAM or Video Graphic Adapter..

Beep Codes

1 long, 2 short - Indicates a video error has occurred and the BIOS cannot initialize the video screen to display any additional information.

Any other beep(s) - RAM problem.

The power cable light on my Toshiba Portege 2010 flashes yellow/orange when the plug is inserted. Computer will not turn on (green light on power button doesn't even come up). Have tried: 1) starting up...

One thing could be that your A/C adapter has failed resulting in your battery not being charged. This would explain why you're experiencing the same symptoms w/ or w/out the A/C adapter.
