What is the problem if no sound

Volume indicator moving but no sound. also tried with external speakers and headphones but hopeless. Need to know whats the problem

It could be a driver related problem or a hardware defect.
Try updating the sound driver in your computer. You can use RadarSync to automate it so that you won't need to manually look for the driver.

    hi david, i've tried on upgrading the driver but nope it didnt work when i use the headphone there i a very tiny sound thou the volume is max. how to check on the hardware?.

My phone only works on speaker, even when it have a volume level of seven, it won't work on a regular phone call. Also any icons that use to beep no longer have any sound


Notifications sounds from either external speaker or headphones, but never from the ear piece volume. Your question suggest that the external speaker is damage but it only works on external speaker. Try using a headphone or a bluetooth to make calls, if they work, then you need to fix the external speaker.

My Roland FP8 plays very quietly through its own speakers, through an external amp & speaker and through the earphones. There is a hissing/crackling/static sound too from the speakers. Anyone


A number if things can be wrong with it, from the audil preamp to the the audio amplifier. Even as simple as a bad volume control. Does the actual noise change patterns when you move the volume?

My sound wont work on my emachine


There are a few simple things to check first:

  • Make sure your computer has a sound card.

    You must be logged on as an administrator to perform these steps.

    1. Open Device Manager by clicking the Start button 4f6cbd09-148c-4dd8-b1f2-48f232a2fd33.png, clicking Control Panel, clicking System and Maintenance, and then clicking Device Manager. 18abb370-ac1e-4b6b-b663-e028a75bf05b.png If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

    2. Expand the Sound, video and game controllers category. If a sound card is listed, you have one installed. If no sound card is listed, You will need to install one. See Install or remove a sound card.

      If you think you have a sound card installed but you don't see it under the Sound, video and game controllers category, expand the Other devices category and check any devices listed there.

    3. If there is a yellow question mark next to the name of the sound card, there might be a problem. Right-click the name of the sound card, and then click Properties.

    4. Click the General tab, and then look in the Device status box to identify problems with the sound card.

  • Make sure your speakers are plugged into a working power source and turned on.

  • Make sure your speakers are correctly connected to the computer.

    On your speakers, find the cable that plugs into your computer. Make sure that the speaker cable is plugged into the speakers and the correct jack on the computer. For example, if the cable is a 1/8 inch cable, there should be a round jack for it on the back of the computer. If it is a universal serial bus (USB) cable, it will plug into any USB port on your computer.

  • Make sure that the speaker volume is not muted or turned down too low.

I would like to reinstall my speakers to my dell computer somehow they have been removed? Bar Code CN0D3431 48220 49T 06J3. I know longer can locate the installation disk?

Four weeks ago I bought an iPod Touch 32GB. After listening to my iPod on an external speaker I tried using the headphone and the sound is just too low. I thought my headphone was damaged but I tried it on...


Sounds like plugging the external speakers in has damage the spot were the headphones go in. If this is under warranty that bring it to apple store.

Same problem, brand new Dell Vostro, hooked up Polk Audio speakers from former computer and get very, very faint music. Need a solution


if the sound is very faint. you can check the volume properties if it is set to maximize and also check the physical volume control on the actual speaker - also Disconnect Any Headphones That May Be Connected to the Computer - Check for and remove any headphones connected to the computer or speakers to prevent them from muting the external speakers.Click Start, and then click Control Panel.Double-click Sounds and Audio Devices. Click the Sounds tab. You can also try head phone if it is Crystal Clear on headphone then the problem is with the Speaker as Dell might need to replace it. :)

My hp laptops volume sounds really distorted im not sure why?


The first thing to check is to ensure you have the most updated drivers for your computer and the audio section. If that is okay, then it may be that the speakers are busted. If you have a set of headphones, you can plug them in and if the sound is okay, then the problem is probably your speakers.

My view sonic monitor has no sound


Troubleshooting Sound Issues Verify that the audio cable is connected to the AUDIO OUT or LINE OUT output on the Sound Card and plugged into the AUDIO IN or LINE IN of the Monitor.   Make sure there are no cables connected to the Headphone Jack (located next to the AUDIO IN port) on the monitor. If there is, please disconnect that cable and try the speakers again. Connecting a cable to the Headphone Jack disables the speakers. If there is no cable connected into the Headphone Jack, test a pair of headphones into that jack to see if you can hear sound out of the headphones. If you are able to hear sound out of the headphones, disconnect the headphones and try the speakers again.   Verify that the Mute on the monitor is not on or the Volume is not turned down.    Verify that the Mute on the computer is not on or the Volume is not turned down.<    If there is still no audio from the monitor's speakers, connect the Audio cable to another audio source like a portable CD player or tape player headphone output. If audio can be heard through the monitor's speakers, then there may be an issue with the computers sound card.    Connect another set of computer speakers (if available) or headphones to the AUDIO OUT or LINE OUT output on the Sound Card. If NO audio can be heard then there is an issue with the sound card. Verify with the computer's manufacturer for additional assistance.   LCD TVs Troubleshooting No Sound from a LCD TV No Sound when using RGB (when connected to a PC) Confirm the audio cable is plugged into the Audio in on the LCD TV and the audio out on the computer. Note: On the N1700W use the GREEN mini-jack; on this model Audio is SHARED between DVI and RGB, there is only 1 audio channel for data connections. The N1700w is designed to take a 1.0v RMS audio signal for optimal sound quality.   Confirm that both the LCD TV Mute and Windows Mute are off. A general message will be displayed on screen to indicate status of Mute (On or Off).   Press the Volume Up Button on the monitor or remote to confirm the Volume is not set to zero.   Confirm that PC volume is sufficient by using Windows/Macintosh Volume adjustment settings.   Try plugging another audio source such as a CD or Cassette Player directly into the Audio port on the LCD TV to confirm the speakers work, or try plugging headphones or external speakers into the sound card on the Computer. If the Headphones or External Speakers do not work, contact the manufacturer of your Computer for further support. No Sound when using S-Video/Composite/ Component Video Confirm the audio cable is plugged into the Audio in on the LCD TV and the audio out on the S-Video, Composite, or Component Video device.   Confirm Mute is off. A general message will be displayed on screen to indicate status of Mute (On or Off).   Press the Volume Up Button on the LCD TV or Remote to confirm the Volume is not set to zero.   Try plugging headphones or external speakers into the audio port on the S-Video, Composite, or Component Video device. If the Headphones or External Speakers do not work, contact the manufacturer of your S-Video, Composite, or Component Video device.   Note: Some ViewSonic monitors do not include speakers.

My Dell Inspiron 6000 stopped playing sound. I uninstalled and reinstalled SigmaTel driver. This did not work.


Does it show that the device is working properly in the device manager? You could try and use system restore to roll back windows to a time when the sound was working. Windows may have updated software and caused problem with audio. If you roll back the system to a time when you know the sound was working then the on board audio may be defective. Have you tried plugging in headphones in the headphone jack and check if there is sound? Are the sound properties muted? The laptop speakers or internal amp may have stopped working also.
