SOURCE: no internet connection

Review the following links -- note they depend on the modem equipment supplied by Verizon. There may be more possibilities -- research of their help/support website could find the appropriate option for you. These indicate there may be steps to configure their equipment as well as your router for this to work.

SOURCE: Fast Flashing Light - no Internet connection

Well, i also had a wrt54g router.Generally that type of router is only for a networkwith one, two max wireless items. When the led light is flashing very fast, it means it is working very hard. You may need to get a stronger router such as the wrt300n which can handle up to about 10 items. By the way, netgear routers are generally stronger and longer lasting than linksys.

SOURCE: wireless router not connecting

Be sure that your Modem plugs into the WAN port on the router.

1. Unplug your cable/dsl modem power
2. Unplug your Router power
3. Plug in your modem power ... wait for it to come completely up.
4. Plug in your WRT54G Router and wait for it to come up.

Press the reset button on the back of the router for 45 seconds while it is powered on. This will do a factory reset. Wait for it to come up. Then unplug it. Wait 30 seconds and plug it back in. Let it come all the way up.

Plug a PC into one of the switch ports on the router.
Now do an ipconfig /release and ipconfig /refresh in the command prompt of your PC to get an IP address from your Router.

Now you should be able to ping 192.168.0.1 and you should be able to get into the the configuration utility by putting http://192.168.0.1 in a browser. The username should be blank and the password will most likely be admin (all lower case).

Be sure to lock down your wireless SSID so neighbors and people passing by are unable to connect to your access point and do bad things on your network.

SOURCE: WRT54gs doesn't work anymore. I'm unable to

There should be a reset button for the router, you will likely need a paperclip or other small item to push the button in. Disconnect power to the modem, push the button, and while holding it, repower the router. The router will come up vanilla as it was originally in the box. You will then have to reconfigure the router. I would uninstall the router software from your desktop and reload it, then link your security settings.

SOURCE: the power led keeps flashing. can connect

Try rebooting both you modem and the router.

Unplug the modem, removing all batteries if it has batteries. Unplug the router.

Replace batteries (if removed), and plug modem back in.

Wait a minute or so, then plug the router in.

That should fix it. If not, reply back.

WHAT LIGHTS ON LINKSYS ARE SUPPOSED TO BE BLINKING

Note that incoming traffic will cause the WAN (or Internet) light to blink even if it is 'probe' traffic trying to break in to your network. Such traffic is to be expected and is the reason you have firewall functionality in your gateway router.

On the inside, there is a bit of traffic on any LAN when the computers are turned on. Messages generated by the router itself are used to find computers and printers for a lot of different legitimate reasons.

Back light sometimes works

If your laptop appears to boot up and the hard disk LED flashes, then the problem is probably a back light fault. This can be a faulty inverter or a faulty CCFL lamp. Wht can the problem be when i can see my SSID,

If u cannot connect to the internet, 1st make sure the power LED is not flashing, if it is flashing then power off all your connection device: DSL modem, Router and computer. After that, power on each device in following order: DSL modem->Router->Computer.
Another that u can check is the cable connection. Since your computer can connect to router, then the rest to check is the DSL modem must be connected to the internet port on the router and coaxial port to the telephone line.

Modem and computer are not communicating.

Are all your connections in the appropriate place? Did you press and hold the re-set button on your router for 40 seconds and wait until all the lights are green on your router?

Lost connection between switch and hub - LED flashes every 5 secs

You say you have the same problem when you connect the cable directly from router to laptop, so it apparently is not a hub problem. That leaves the router and the cable. You're fortunate in having a working system on the other port. Why not try swapping pieces to see which is the failed piece? For example, what if you swap the ports for the cables? If it's a router problem, then the "bad" cable should work when in the other port. What if you swap cables? That would reveal a bad cable. Finally, swapping computers would show a computer configuration problem, such as the connection not being set to automatic.

Dropping Connection

All the LED except power should be flashing, that indicates traffic flow, power should be steady.

If all wired and wireless connections fail it is unlikely the router, more likely the cable/adsl modem that is dropping connection. Test by connecting a pc directly to the cable modem, watch for dropouts. If fails, contact your ISP service dept for line check and do a cable speed check from an online source.

Check also terms of service for the package you bought, many low end services restrict speeds below dialup if you go over your transfer limit. Multiple pcs playing online games use a lot of bandwidth. the speed restriction may put you below the threshhold for game server

Problem after firmware update Edimax BR-6114Wg

Hi Fklco,

Why are you connecting the WAN,, (the internet modem cable), to the standard ports? It should have a WAN port, for the cable from the modem, and a LAN for the cables to the computer?

On the other hand, if it is working, I would leave well enough alone, :D
