My Steiner Navigater 7 by 50 were coated in a thick layer of sticky pollen. I briefly rinsed them under the tap and now the right hand side (with the compass) has condensation in it. I thought that because they were pressurised with nitrogen they would be gas and watertight. Help please

- Thanks very much Oscope. It certainly seems to solve the prob. at least temporarilly. After a while, or if the temp. drops the condensation seems to reappear, also there is a slight residue from where the damp has evaporrated.I certainley won't be running water over them again!

If weather cooperates, put them out in the direct, bright sunlight for a couple of hours.I have done this many times in the last 30 years or so.Usually that will drive the moisture out.I generally clean the outside of my binocs with a paint brush, or in some cases, a toothbrush.For the lenses I use a soft cloth.No solvents.Good Luck
