SOURCE: Pavilion dv7 laptop driver problem BSOD

Hi,

DV7 is not designed for XP, to get around the issue you may be able to change the BIOS setting for the SATA controller to work in IDE mode(depending on the BIOS) or you can use the XP installer option to install a SATA/RAID driver during the installer boot sequence. To offer you this I will need to know the model # and Serial # on the white sticker on the bottom of your laptop or the make and model of the SATA controller.

Try the Bios option and reply back with the requested info if it's not a viable option and I will see if there is an XP driver available for your controller.

SOURCE: HP Pavilion zv6100 laptop CMOS will not recognize the HD

You could have a faulty disk controller. Try inserting a different working hard disk into the HP and see if it can detect it in the BIOS. If not then the disk controller is faulty and this is a motherboard problem. A replacement motherboard may not be worth it, put your money towards a new laptop and put the hard disk into an USB hard drive adapter case and use it as an USB external hard drive.

Hard drive access problem, clicking noise indicates a hard drive that is damaged, the clicking is the reading heads trying to access data. You need to replace the hard drive asap and get your data off before it dies.

Download HDD tune from the internet, run it and look for RSC errors and bad sectors, if even only 2 sectors are bad, needs replaced, also if the RSC bar is yellow or red, the drive is on its way out

Hp invent with windows xp pro after restoring to an earlier date says windows cannot start driver corruppted?Did system Diagnostics hard disk test failed test 2 (Comprehensive)...Error: Read Failure

Restoring to an eariler date cannot fix this problem.
If the hard disk diagnostics failed, this could indicate the hard drive is about to fail. The hard disk platter/s most likely has some bad clusters and if any files are located on these bad clusters then you would get a read failure. The number of bad clusters will increase and cause further problems.
Run chkdsk to lock out these bad clusters but this is a temperoary solution and the computer may not be able to relocate the data from the bad sectors to a good sectors.
The fix is to backup your data as soon as possible, then replace the hard drive with a new hard drive and re-install Windows and the Compaq's device drivers.

Try copying the driver files (install and otherwise) to a USB flash stick. Put it into a usb port, turn computer on. You should then be able to access the files throughout the installation.

Windows xp instalation stpos givibg a blue screen in aspire m5640 desktop

Windows Xp installtion give Blue Screen of Death when XP tries to installed devices driver during installation or when the cd is corruptted and cannot be read in graphical mode installation or when the hard drive is corrupted with Bad sector.

Get a new windows XP CD and configure your system BIOS to default setting ( load optimal settings) and configured for IDE drive configuration to compatible mode or disable mode if you are using SATA hard drive.

If problem still occured, get "Bad sector recovery pro" and try to repair the hard disk.If the bad sector are unrecoverable then change the hard drive.

Sometimes, faulty RAM also give blue screen too. Check your RAM too.

As you have had it for six weeks only and your HDD has developed some bad sectors, the situation will only get worse as time passes. Ask the dealer to change the HDD. Take a backup of your data (not the complete drive. If you have the DVDs that came with the laptop, then you do not loose any drivers as they are all there on the DVDs. Your firmware and drivers are at

Download and burn them on a DVD. Sometimes one get into a situation inadvertently that extricating yourself out of it becomes cumbersome. This is that kind of situation. Take care of bad sectors first.
