Does this model have a digital input?

I know it has a digital out for jacking into a DVD recorder. I was wondering if I was missing some input for digital input. I'd love to jack in my computer for full 5.1 awesomeness. Right now, I'm just using a RCA-Mini jack through the normal speaker jack. Thanks!

Thanks for the confirmation. I really wanted a fully digital audio connection because I'm a gamer. For anyone with this unit and the same predicament, I have a solution.

If you use the regular RCA audio connection for the AUX, you CAN get simulated surround. Make sure you are using the Dolby Pro Logic surround selection. Change it using the "surround" button on your remote. The only problem with this is it seems to mix up the right channel and the left channel. If you do an audio test with your audio card's software, you'll find it only recognizes a two-channel signal. This is correct. Pro Logic takes two channels and synthesizes it into 5.1. Try it. You'll get a decent surround experience. I really wish they'd make a program for the PC to deal with Pro Logic.

I'm wondering where in the mix is your satellite receiver? The recorders currently on the market aren't able to decode digital satellite signals. They are capable of decoding cable but i'm unaware of any that work on satellite.

You have probably found out now that you would need to get your digital reception by connecting a set top box to the LG, say to AV1, then select AV1 when making a recording.

Check video input setting to DVD recorder...should be set to "External" or "Line". This should activate the video input jacks on the rear of the RDR-VX530 and allow it to "see" your Sony handycam.

I am having trouble in connecting the new dvd recorder . I think ,I am missing some thing on the initial set up to receive the channels our present configuration is ... 1.R F cable input to set top box,...

I found your model information on a site which provided something I was going to ask you if I could not find it.DVD recorders need either a digital input from a cable box or a self-contained digital scanner(yours does not have this). So,you need to hook up as follows,External cable into cable box input, cable box output into DVD recorder input,DVD recorder output to TV coaxial cable input(usually labeled ant.)the screw on connector anyhow, you should know what I mean it seems. In this configuration, you should not need to turn on the DVD recorder to watch TV without recording because they usually have a bypass mode when there is no power on the DVD.If you have picture in picture(PIP),you should be able to use the main source to record and switch over to the PIP channel if you do not want to watch what you are recording.Do about a 10-30 second test of that just to make sure though so you don't end up all messed up.Oops.My bad...you do not have PIP.As long as the cable box is tuned to the channel you want to record, you should be able to use the TV's tuner to watch something else with no problem. When doing this on VHS recorders, sometimes the screen would get fuzzy and you would have to press the TV/VCR vutton on the VCR remote.I do not know if a DVD recorder will do it or not as I have yet to buy one,but when you do your test recording, you can mess around with whatever you want to see what happens so you will be fully prepared when you do it.If you need more help or have a problem/question,just comment here and I will get an autolink to your post and will reply ASAP.Good luck! How do i record from a vcr tape to a dvd on a sansui dual deck vcr dvd recorder?

If it is a combination VCR/DVD player, they usually can't do it.If you get a separate VCR player from a friend or neighbor, you can connect the VCR output to a cable box input, cable box output into DVD input,or if the DVD recorder has a digital tuner you can plug the VCR output player straight into the input of the DVD recorder.DVD recorders REQUIRE some form of digital input. That is why you need to route a VCR player through a cable box or the DVD recorder needs a digital tuner. If you are not sure if your recorder has a digital tuner, call sansui, they will know.I tried to find Sansui home and I found everything BUT DVD/VCR.If you have a manual it will be in there,or it may have a phone number on a label(back or bottom probably)of the unit.Good luck!Greg If you want to send me your model number,I will research it further too.It is up to you.

Can i hook up a hdmi cable from computer to dvd recorder and record stuff from computer to dvd recorder

Hi,
The HDMI port on your pc is an output device. That said, if your dvd recorder has an HDMI input or another input device then you can record from your pc to your dvd recorder. To do this, you will need the HDMI to A/V or anyother cable that your dvd recorder accepts as an input device. Another roundabout method would be to connect your computer to the TV which is probably already connected to your DVR for recording and record via that.
If you send your DVD recorder's model no. i can help you with exact instructions

I can not select input source, even though AV1 is connected. Pressing INPUT button has no effect. All I can see is ''Not connected to the camcorder'', which is true - but I want to record from AV1.

Press INPUT repeatedly to select the external input
to record from.
AV1: Audio/Video Input mounted on back panel.
AV2: Audio/Video Input mounted on front panel.
DV: DV Input mounted on front panel.
DV IN jack.
This recorder is only compatible with DV-format
(DVC-SD, DV25) camcorders. Digital satellite tuners
and Digital video recorders are not compatible.
Make sure your cables are connected correctly, if an audio cable is plugged into the video the unit wont see it.

Mintek DVD-1600 Setup to cable box/tv

A dvd player that doesn't record hooks straight to the television, not the cable box. Tv's typically have av jacks. If yours doesn't, you will need to buy an rf modulator. If your tv has the jacks, U will need to use your tv remote and hit tv video or input or source on that tv remote to switch between input and tv modes.

Recording Snow

If you hook your VCR up to the RCA jacks on the front of the DVD recorder, push 002 on the remote to use the front input jacks. (001 if you hook your VCR up to the rear input jacks)

Push record on the DVD recorder, and push Play on the VCR.
(Pg. 35 in the manual)

When you push play on the VCR, you should be able to see the movie being played on your TV. If you cannot, make sure your RCA cables are good and hooked up correctly.

That's all you have to do, so if it's not recording I would try to take the unit back for an exchange.
