SOURCE: My Husqvarna 350 chainsaw won't stay running.

Fuel starvation - 'lean fuel' condition
Basic things to check:
1) spark plug
2) spark arrestor in muffler
3) fuel lines and tank filter
4) turn adjustment needles out (counterclockwise) 1/4 to 1/2 turn
Chain Saws:
5) check impulse tube and intake boot for cracks or leaks
*if all of the above are OK and/or do not improve performance then:
Remove Carburetor
6) replace gaskets/diaphragms
a) use a spray carb cleaner to clean jets, holes, and body of carb
b) fuel pump diaphragm goes against the carb body,
then the gasket towards the outside
c) metering gasket goes against the carb body,
and the diaphragm goes towards the outside

I have been using my Husqvarna yth2348all summer now it wont start. There is spark and fuel going to carb. There was a huge mouse nest. Checked carb bowl it was clean. Any suggestions?

Hi Todd:
Here's a couple of things I would do.
1) See if there is a drain plug on the carb, If there is, drain it so that you will be getting fresh fuel into it.
2) Remove the air filter cover, then remove the air filter make sure it is clean. Replace if it's really bad.
3) Squirt a bit of fresh gas into the throat of the carb, put the air filter back in place, and try to start. Usually it will be good and run. If it doesn't, youre not getting spark. If it runs a bit and then dies, you're not getting gas. Try the prime trick a few times. If it still won't keep running you'll need to take the carb apart and clean it.

Our Husqvarna YTH2148 mower has been in the shop twice and we can't figure out what's causing black, sooty fouling of the spark plugs.

Hi, change the engine oil. It has become contaminated with fuel. Also fit an inline fuel tap and turn it off whenever the mower is not in use. Basically the carby has leaked fuel into the engine oil, the engine then draws the fuel vapour from the oil through the crankcase vent into the carby creating the problem you have. Regards Phil.

Husqvarna Model#136 Serial#20033000836 chainsaw. When I first start my chainsaw, it starts on the first or second pull and it will run perfect until it runs out of gas. I have to wait until it cools...

Your fuel octane is GREAT ! Good to hear you are using fresh fuel. Make sure to use Husqvarna HP oil. It makes a difference of the heat generated by the engine.
1) If you can: Do not run the saw dry when cutting. As soon as you have the indication that it is almost dry, stop. Remove the fuel cap to remove pressure in the tank. Allow a 5 minute cool down before refueling.
2) I see your saw is a 2003, you may have debris under the flywheel shrouding restricting air flow: remove the recoil assembly and flywheel cover/shroud under the recoil. (if it has one)
Check to see if debris has gathered around cylinder fins.
Clean with compressed air. The ability for the flywheel to breath means more air to cool the cylinder and lower the overall operating temperature of the engine.
3) Make sure the air filter is clean and area is free of debris.
* Each item may be small, but each one builds on the operating temperature.

check your fuel filter/gas line in tank you could have a crack in your line that in the fuel till it gets below half tank then sucks air through crack, It's a possibility, other than that, check your exhaust port, but sounds like a fuel problem check your fuel tank vent also to make sure it is venting. Good Luck

Respected Sir, I purchase a Husqvarna's chainsaw last week Model 236- 14". but I cant start it. I read manual carefully, every thing is OK. but Chainsaw can't start yet. So I request you,...

Checklist:

2-cycle oil mixed with FRESH gasoline
Spark plug wire pushed onto spark plug
Chain tight but you can still move it forward with your hand
Switch turned on
Pull the cord a few times, and then let it sit for a few minutes in case it's 'flooded' with fuel

If a new chain saw won't start, it probably has defective spark coil
Chain saws usually don't cause problems fresh out of the box, they stop working if people leave gasoline in the tank for a couple months each time.

Here's what I would do
Empty the tank of gas. Put fresh gas-n-oil into tank (not gas from an old can that was sitting there for a while)
Try starting again.
If no luck, then take it back and exchange for another.

Good luck sir.

Will not start. Spark ok tried with started fluid

Spark should be blue and snappy with fresh plug gapped at 0.020. Try putting some fresh fuel mix into the plug hole and try to start--it should pop several times. Does the engine seem to have good compression? If not, remove the muffler and check the piston skirt and cylinder wall for severe scoring. If it is, then the engine has probably be run on straight gasoline or poorly pre-mixed fuel/oil. At the very lean fuel/oil ratios ( 50:1) recommended for today's saws, proper premixing of fresh fuel and a modern synthetic oil made for saw use is imperative plus the fuel container should be vigorously shaken just before each filling. If the compression appears good, then check the fuel filter, air cleaner, and muffler for plugging. Check the fuel lines for any decay or other damage. Make sure the carburetor fasteners are tight. Hope some of this helps!

Can't start my Chain Saw Husqvarna 350.

The fuel may have been replaced, but is the fuel filter clean or is the fuel line cracked? Even though you cleaned the spark plug, did you check to see if it has a spark? If not, maybe a new spark plug or check the wire to make sure there is nothing blocking where the wire and spark plug connect. Is the air filter clean? Just a few more things to check out...
