Yes, there is a kit to change the unit over to LP gas. Here is that kit to order.

SOURCE: I have a Kitchenaide model

Hello,
It would seem like reasonable thing to do.However the adjustment is typically for the low setting so you can adjust just the small flame just enough to simmer a pot without the flame going out from being so low its susuptable to going out on the low setting, also it so you can adjust the flame smaller so on low it isnt too high, causing it will boil when you intend to only simmer a dish your cooking. A question;is it all burners and have they always been that way?

How do I know if my Caloric Heritage gas range is propane or natural gas? It is a used stove that was given to us

Stoves are usually sent from the factory set for natural gas. they have to be converted to Propane. If it is set for propane the flame will be very low on natural gas. If set for natural gas on propane the flame will be very large. The orifices for natural gas are much larger than propane orifices. and the regulator is converted acordingly.

Why won't the broiler flame on my kenmore gas stove adjust?

you may have to replace the orifice with a smaller one. Follow the gas tube from the broiler to see if it runs thru the same regulator. Some units use a pressure regulated gas valve.

Recently purchased a whirlpool gas range from Lowes "return, discounted aisle" I asked had it been converted to propane and they said yes it had. Wife is overly concerned how do you know they can...

Hello,

Their is no marking or anything easy to determine that.....however natural gas is lower pressure that propane so if you were using propane and it was set to natural ALL the flames would be huge since it would be operating on the higher pressure while it was set for the lower pressure which would result in a flame thrower from each burner and soot so if the flames are pretty normal size despite the small adjustment for the simmer i believe its set to propane.

It sounds like during the conversion process a step or two may have been missed.

The gas orifice for the main oven burner is most likely to large (was not converted to LP), or the air shutter on the burner was not adjusted. I would not use the oven with the flames that way.

There should be instructions with the installation instructions on how to convert the oven, basically on most oven burners the orifice is screwed down (tightened) until the flame is the right size, then the air shutter on the burner is adjusted for a blue flame.

Let me know if you have questions

Kenmore gas stove can it be changed to work for propane

Yes, your gas range can be converted to propane. Your owners manual will give you step by step instructions. Since there are many different models, there are different procedures involved to convert to propane. On some models you must change the top burner orifices where other models have adjustable orifices. The oven burner has an adjustable orifice(same with broil burner if there is one). The range regulator must be adjusted to stay open all the time because your propane system has its own regulator.

Converting from natural gas to propane

Where do all orifices go on anything gas? Right there where the burner meets gas valve. The air shutter sits right in front of the orifice for proper air to gas ratio right.Go out and look at yer gas grill. Where the burners meet the gas valve ye shall find the orifice.

The southbend 436d range gives a yellow flame at the burners

Hello. Please advise if your unit is supposed to run on propane, at the bottom of the oven door is a smaller panel, depending on age, it either lifts slightly, and then folds down, or clearly has screws on the front. Your Model/rating plate is behind this, either on the back of the panel, a tag screwed to the frame, or on the bottom ledge of this area. It should state what gas the unit is meant for, propane or natural. If it was not converted to run on propane, or made to run on propane, this is your problem. If it was built/converted for propane I would suggest you contact your propane supplier, or a restaurant service company to look at it, it would require a few specialized tools, pressure testing, orifice size req., and burner BTU. to go much further than cleaning the dust out of the burner, and cleaning the orifice.

Hope that helps, and thank you.

Burner flame height adjustment

All ignitors will always arc whenever one of them does.

I haven't worked with propane systems much, but it seems you may need the propane pressure regulator adjusted.

If the problem is only with the power burner, I would ensure that particular orifice was actually changed. The hole in a propane orifice is smaller than for natural gas.

Change over to propane gas

There is an orifice on top of the safety valve that goes into the burner. Turn that orifice clockwise to adjust the flame down. Will need to turn it almost all the way down until it stops for lp.

You need to turn the orifice on the safety valve down (clockwise) and this will make the flame smaller. The orifice is what the burner for the oven sits on at the bottom. The valve is # 214 on this diagram. http://www3.sears.com/imaging/ImagePageJava.shtml?productTypeID=0124111&brandID=0582&modelDesc=GAS%20RANGE&modelNumber=3627331890&documentID=10033508&documentTypeID=PLDM&documentClassCode=PM&titleType=BURNER%20SECTION&titleID=00001&. Hope this helps.
