Re: HDP820-LC printer is not printing.

Please check with fargo and make sure you have the latest version of the patches.

also update the printer drivers. If its working on self test, the software is doing something to it. Try printing only single sided and see what happens.

HID Fargo dct4500 flipper not flipper the card.

If it is printing only the front of the card, then ejecting normally:
  • check all of your settings in the driver, as well as your card-printing software, specifically those that specify single- or dual-sided (duplex) printing. Make sure they're set for 2-sided printing.
  • Also check that you specifying printing both front-side and back-side of the card, etc
  • Make sure your card design is for a 2-sided card.
If the card enters the flipper, but gets stuck (doesn't flip), and does not eject, then you may have a fault with the flipper module itself. There is a diagnostic program freely available (the Fargo Workbench Utility) directly from the manufacturer's website at Download and install it on your PC. It includes a printer information section that can calibrate sensors, film, etc., and also can send direct commands to the flipper to level itself ("home the flipper table"), as well as step it in either direction.

If you have an issue that is not addressed by these built-in calibrations and other tests, then your unit may need service from an authorized repair facility, like Safe-Card ID Services.

Edge to edge print problem

The Fargo DTC550 will not be able to print an "over the edge" card. Any Direct To Card printers will have a white line on the edges. There are several printers that are able to print covering the entire card, those printers are called Reverse Transfer or Fargo's High Definition Printers. One printer that I do recommend is the Fargo HDP5000, you can read more about it at:

Printer restarts itself after putting it on

We would recommend to try to update the firmware for this printer from the Fargo website - Update the print driver to the most current version from this site as well. Run a test card from the LCD panel if the printer starts after your updates. If successful, run a test card from the print driver on the computer.

If this does not work, there may be major issues. Contact Fargo Technical Support at 800-459-5636.

Print quality with Fargo DTC500 printer

You might go to the print driver settings to change the way the printer prints the card. This can be found in the printing preferences. Go to the device options tab and choose "rotate front 180 degrees". Then print a card. This may fix the problem.

If not, try downloading the latest print driver from

Not working dtc550

Since the printer prints the test page from the driver, most likely the problem is with your Cardfive software. To test this, try printing a card on the printer from Microsoft Word or Notepad. Just remember to set your page size or you will get multiple cards printed. The Fargo printer is just a windows printer and may receive output from any windows software.
