I have an old 24" Hitachi television set. Not sure of model number. When turning the set on, the red power LED pulsates at a frequency of approx. 1-2 seconds. Please help with any possible solutions? Thanks.

Are you getting the red led light? If not, please check the power outlet for any loose contacts. Try the TV on some other power outlet. If the TV does not work still, cool it off for 48 hours, after removing the plug and retry.
GOOD question and well asked----Start at the beginning.
if light on main fuse is good---do you hear the power relay click on and off?
These sets for trouble shooting use a number of green and one red LED inside on the board--the red one should be on when power is connected and the others at turn on all should light--if do this with back off look for the Green ones---when set turned on do all light and then go out--look for one that goes out first or last---each is connected to a specific voltage coming out of the power supply---they will lead you to the area where the trouble is---this set is old enough you may be able to find a service manual online.
I have fixed a lot--going to need a volt/ohm meter for any real tests.
When u turn the tv on,u hear alot of clicking? That mean the Ballast that help the projection bulb to work is dead.Change the Ballast, might as well change the bulb too.U don't know what is the condition of the projection bulb in.
The 392-150 is a higher current device then the 110---you can use either--this is normal in the hitachi sets---I usually replace both with 150's---check the led that does not light---should indicate which voltage source is bad---if it is one of the 2 voltages for the convergence ic's(one is a positive and the other a negative voltage) then the convergence Ic's may be bad---look for any discolored resistors around the ic's---one way to tell if it is a convergence ic is to de-solder both ic's and see if the set turns on(the convergence will be out the window) but if it comes on change both and do the alignments with the Hitachi remote. By the way----the led should have a location number printed on the top of the circuit board.
