Yes it is from the bottom of the boiler from a small opening, I guess a vent. Thank you for the help.

SOURCE: Rowenta Steam Iron Leak

I have purchased two Rowenta irons. Both have the problem with water leakage. The entire iron looses all of it's water....both in the stand up position and the sitting down position. This happened after a couple of months for both items. I contacted Rowenta and they never responded. I will never purchase another item from them. Obviously, the irons must be defective. I'm going to contact consumer affairs.

SOURCE: need to know how to clean a rowenta iron plate

As long as it's not a coated surface - plain steel - get 0000 steelwool to rub it with. It will take some elbow grease but it will work to clean and (almost) polish the surface.

SOURCE: I have a Rowenta Advancer 1800W and it leaks water

May I ask WHEN you bought it and WHERE??
I have the same problems too and I'm trying to figure out the same thing.
If it can't be fixed, than I am going to write to the manufacturer to explain our problem with this iron.
Thanks.

You need to follow the instructions for the iron. Rowenta make a excellent iron but it's water tank and steam chamber need to be cleaned and rinsed out, say every third use depending on how much you use it. Also, allow the iron to reach FULL TEMPRATURE before you use it.

Sticky surface

Make a paste of baking powder and water. Rub onto soleplate with a soft cloth. This will work, but not as well as cleaner.

You can find Rowenta kits or other brands of cleaner in the laundry or small appliance departments of stores that sell this type of product as well as fabric stores.

Iron got really hot, like it overheated, then the light stayed on, but the heat seemed to go off and water came out the bottom of the iron. What do I do now?

Hi.

The thermostat must be replaced.

The iron uses a thermal cut off that will disconnect power to the element when the top temperature is reached.

In your case the thermostat is shorted inside, and will never cut off.

The part can be ordered calling Roventa at the customer support number listed on the owners manual. Alternatively, putting Rowenta Parts in a search engine like Google or Yahoo, you will get a list of Rowenta parts distributor in your area.

Rowenta dx8900 has a very leak in bottom on left

Sounds like the feed tube or tank is ruptured. It may be cheaper to buy a new one from wallmart or similar store.

Have you tried descaling it? It may well be blocked up with limescale. Personally I only ever buy cheap irons and bin them when they go wrong! As you say-they are generally too expensive to repair.
