The button is the problem and is either stuck from debri or the spring within it is broken. It is replaceable.

SOURCE: STRING IS USED WITHIN MINUTES. IS THERE A TRICK

Probably wound backwards. Follow the arrow on the spool for both. Both SAME rotation.

Look under Operating Instructions....Spool and Line Replacement. This model is probably same as yours in that regard. Diagrams and instructions are included.

Did you re-string it? If you did it is possible that you crossed the string over itself and it is stuck. Check that and good luck...Lee

Black and decker grass hog electric weed eater won't feed string


I bought the electric grasshog trimmer. Worst investment I ever made on Garden supplies. The line is completely gong within ten feet of trimming. I've used it four times and gone through twenty spools. In the trash now.
