SOURCE: What are the main metals consist in a knife's blade?

There are many metals used to assemble a knife, but the main blades are forged from bronze, copper, iron, steel, ceramics, and titanium. If you're buying a new knife I recommend to use titanium made knife, it's very high quality an titanium is the best stainless steel.

SOURCE: What are the main metals consist in a knife's blade?

Steel blades are commonly shaped by forging or stock removal. Forged blades are made by heating a single piece of steel, then shaping the metal while hot using a hammer or press. Stock removal blades are shaped by grinding and removing metal. Forging Flange Manufacturers India Stainless Carbon Alloy Steel Forgings

How to choose the right knife for your camping trip

depending on what your plans are for the uses of your knife you will first want to pick either a folding knife which are smaller and can be put in your pocket easy to carry then you have nonfolding knifes that have sheifs which need to be on a belt or put in a backpack pocket there bigger then a folding knife and thicker blade then a folding knife a non folding knife are mostly more stable then folding knives you dont have to worry about the blade folding down on you fingers but most folding knifes have a blade lock just remember when choosing your knife make sure its comfortable to use and not to big bigger is not always better and dont forget a good sharping stone when camping your knife is your life

How should I care for my stainless steel dive knife so it doesnt go rusty?

. Stainless Steel contains high carbon traces for strengthening, they will almost certainly rust. To ensure that you care for your knife you should rinse it well with fresh water after a dive and allow it to dry naturally outside of its sheath, you can also apply some oil to the blade from time to time, and this will preserve your knife for longer.

What is the best steel for a hunting knife?

Right now the best steel as far as stainless steel is S35VN stainless steel. It surpasses the S30V steel. But if you want the best carbon steel, personally I would go with D2 steel. It is such a good steel that it is considered a semi-stainless steel.

But to really help you out, it's not the type of steel that's the most important thing. It is the way the steel is heat tempered and hardened. If it is not properly heat treated and hardened, then the steel is worthless as far as knives go. If the HRC is too high for the type of steel/ stainless steel, then the blade will be brittle and chip or break easier.

If the steel's HRC aka Rockwell hardness is too low, then it will easily bend and will not hold an edge well at all.

Each steel and stainless steel have their own HRC tolerance level Going above or below its HRC tolerance makes for a bad knife blade.

What is the part number for the knife on a Janome 11577

I have the same refurb machine and my upper blade just went dull this week too! I just looked at what they LOOK like compared to other Janome models, and they look most like the blades in the 888 and 634. Now... the issue is how to get the old blade OFF. Mine has some major lock-tight on it or something, and without a vice to hold the machine in while using some major torque, I'm not sure if I can replace the blade myself. ;)

Two CDs stuck in car CD player

most CD players have approx a 3/16'' wide opening that the CD slides into. you will need a strong 4'' long stainless steel pair of tweezers & a small thin blade knife, approx 3'' to remove the top CD before it will eject the second one. using a small LED flashlight, [second person required] shine it inside the CD player opening & you will see the edge of the top CD. [ when light hits the edge of a CD, it reflects like a mirror]. now gently insert the knife [about 1''] @ a slight downward angle & lift up slowly until you see 2 reflecting edges. grab the upper one with the tweezers tightly & carefully pull it out until you can remove it by hand. it may take a few trys to get it out but, here's where you need some patients. ya! my daughter did that to me too. this was the only way to get it out other than taking the whole unit apart. have fun.

I unscrewed Stanley 10-379 Interlock retractable knife and now I don't know how to put back the gizmo that fell out or the three blades that came with it.

Google: how to change blade in Stanley 10-379 utility knife. Stanley website shows how knife & blade look on the outside. Put it together so it looks like that. Sorry, but ain't don't know how to send the picture to you.

I recently dropped my knife with the blade open it fell into some rocks and the blade tip broke on impact.

You can re-shape the tip with a few steps.
Do not use a grinding wheel, it will heat the blade too much, and you will lose the temper of the blade.
First, use a file to take off metal. Start by filing off the 45 degree at the cutting edge caused by the break. After you get the right shape, a whetstone will smooth the edge out, and let you sharpen it. I fixed a Buck 110 folding knife fir my brother a few years ago. It is obviously shorter now, but holds a good edge and works fine.

There is a slot at the back of the blade. Bent the blade out enough to clear the notch in the handle and fold the blade down.
