Sounds like the Graphics Adapter has gone bad. If you connect a External Monitor do you see the same? If you boot to Safe Mode do you see the same? Has the Laptop been overheating? Has the Fan, Vents, and heatsink been cleaned recently? Any damage?

I have a samsung tx-t2782 with red green and blue pinstripe running horizontal across top of screen. not a ground loop and theres no magnetic interference.

hello spins,
If your problem just pinstripe on top of screen , but picture ok (normal in picture), try it to enter the factory mode. In standby position press info-menu-mute-power. Enter to deflection adjustment- choose - vamp (VA) or v shift (VS). Change value data by pressing + (or right cursor) and - (or left cursor) to shift or increasse amp. If it work, your tv will normal.
But its nor working, you should call samsung technician.
Good luck.

Picture freeze and pinstrip on the screen

When a Microsoft Xbox 360 console experiences a "general hardware" failure or "core digital" failure, three flashing red lights appear (known as the "Red Ring of Death") around the power button, in lieu of the four green lights indicating normal operation. Warning signs may include freeze-ups, in which the screen has strange, spontaneous graphical problems in the middle of gameplay, such as checkerboard or pinstripe patterns on the screen, the sound is frozen and changed to a strange, static-like sound, and the console only responds to pressing the power button to turn it off. These events may happen once or several times until the general hardware failure occurs, when the user attempts to turn the console on, and the three red lights are seen and the console will not function.

this sounds like it will error e74 which will need a reflow
but dont overheat with a towel as this will cause more problems

Pinstripe cinema display flickers on momentarily then goes black. Image comes back for a split second while when power light glows steadily then goes away while power light flickers. this is a 22"...

when the screen is black and the power light is steadly lit, shine a flash light at the screen. if you can see something, the inverter board is bad and the back light cannot turn on. if the power light flickers, reseat the power plug and put your ear to the back of the monitor where the power plug is. if you hear a buzzing or any high pitched noises; the power supply is bad. use the macufactures warranty for repairs.

You have either loose conections on your internal wirings for the lcd's or you have damaged lcds and/or bad control board. Either way it is a problem that only a trained tech can help, not an easy fix for users, sorry.

Probably the LCD panel itself has gone bad. The tab board in usally the problem. The welds between the glass and board go bad.

Verticle lines through screen

Many times this is caused by a poor connection at the circuit board ribbon connectors to the boards, pull the TV cabinet off, unplug and re-plug all the connector to the boards a few times, take care not to damage them.

Horizontal 'pinstripe' lines on all channels

sound like the screen control on the flyback is set just a little too high. the flyback has the red wire attached to the tube. the flyback has 2 small adjustable controls. if you look close enough 1 is marked focus & on is screen. turn the screen slightly to the left & look at your picture. the screen is like a master brightness & if it's up too high you will see what is called retrace lines. good luck.
