SOURCE: Exesive sparks on the brushes (Bosch GSB 16RE drill)

If you used the drill any amount with a burned field coil there is a good chance that is has burned the new armature out.

SOURCE: I have a bosch hammer dirill that won't chip nor drill but motor run fine

Hi, have you tried the various positions on the front part of the gearbox behind the 'chuck'?
If so, then Im afraid it must go in for repair. These are not an easy fix and personally I would recommend you ask for a 'quotation' as it could be just something simple to do with the 'Gearbox' selector, but it could also be something a lot more serious within the Gearbox.
Good Luck & Best Wishes, John..

Bosch4100saw motor trouble

Hi. It could be a weak field. Or the rear bearing (or front one) on the armature is seizing or gone. If you remove the back part of the motor housing you can see the rear portion of the armature - look for a black burnt area around the perimeter. Regards.

Bosch demolition hammer bearings are ceased up, how can I remove it properly to replace?

Ok here goes. Purchase or use the bearing cover nut 3613461500 that you have taken from the base of the machine. and drill a 6mm hole in it. remove the armature from the machine and measure how far the end of the armature sticks out of the bearing. then fit the cover nut onto the bearing holder and whilst supporting the cover nut use a puller or press to press the armature off the bearing through the cover nut. Replace the bearing in the holder and press the bearing and holder back onto the armature until the amount of armature shaft showing is to the same distance that measured in the first place. Hope this helps.

My makita cordless drill barely turns and is smoking

If it's pulling hard then gets hot enough to smoke your problem could be in either the motor or transmission. If you can, seperate the motor from the trans and try running the motor by itself. If it spins free and strong, you have a jammed transmission causing the motor to over heat. If it still labors your problem could be with the armature bearing(s), brushes, or armature windings.

What is wrong when the 11245evs drill starts smoking?

It could be that the motor isn't getting the proper current to run, causing it to overheat. Don't use long or low guage extension cords with this type of tool. If the brush holder is warped or the brushes are worn down so that they aren't making good contact with the armature the same condition could arrise. It's possible you have a short or broken wire in the armature or field that's causing it to arc and heat up. Another possibility is something wrong in the workings of the drill that is causing the motor to overwork and get hot. There are a LOT of parts in there so you'd have to take it apart and know what to look for as far as damaged or broken parts.

Hilti TE14. It rotates slowly and i'm getting a burning smell from the area around the armiture?

I would bet the armature is shot for sure and possibly the field. When an armature shorts out it usually gives off excessive sparking from the brush area. When a field fails it will usually run very slow if at all.

My Bosch Hammerdrill 119vsr (model060119b439) doesn't start. Pulled back to check brushes. Can't tell their do I pull the brush holder ring? Any suggestions w/b apprectiated. BY

You should be able to get the brushes out without removing the ring. Just pull the brush wire off the ring tab, hold the spring up out of the way and remove the brush. When new they should be about 1/2 inch long. If they're shorter than 1/4 inch or are too short for the spring to push them firmly down on the armature, replace them. The brush holder just slips over the end of the armature and up against the motor housing. To remove it rock it back and forth while pulling it out and it will come off. Another thing to check if you drill stopped all together is the power cord and switch. Use a volt meter to check that power is getting to and through the switch.

I was drilling and it started smelling kinda like burnt plastic. now when i pull trigger, nothing happens at all. the drill is a bosch 1194vsr hammer drill

Sounds like you need bushings do not try again till you replace then as you may damage the armiture......
there should be two plastic slotted screw caps somewhere on the drill........remove those and a bushing will pop out replace those by ordering fron tool repair shop......should cost only a few dollars

Separate the Crankshaft and the generator armiture

Here is the secret.... Remove the end cap of the armature and the long bolt securing armature assy to the engine shaft.

Tip the generator vertical so that the bolt hole is UP.

Put several rags on the back of the engine that is facing up. (Important)

Find or purchase a bolt of exact size at least 3 inches long that will screw into the hole that is facing up.

(With bolt in hand)

Fill the hole all the way to the top with any OIL.

Thread the bolt into the hole and turn with a wrench.

When the aramture separates it most often will make a BANG and scare anyone nearby!

Lift armature away from the engine.

Use rags on the back of the engine to clean up oil mess.

That is it in a nutshell.

Thanks for using FixYa!
