Hello. I just received a new Glass Touch ASM (WB27T10875) for my GE stove. My previous one cracked and needed to be replaced. Problem: While installing/ connecting the ASM to the stove, once I connect the...

Funniest thing. I was having the very same problem on Monday. Every time I laid the glass touch panel down on the stove, it stopped working but worked when I held it up. After failing to install the panel so it would work for 30 minutes, I walked away from it and ate dinner. Coming back later, I decided my problem was the connections on the back side were coming into contact with the metal so I placed a tightening knob in the center of each of the outside holes making sure the underside of the knob went exactly into the middle of the hole. I then lowered the left side of the panel down to where the threads started and very carefully partially tightened the left knob so none of the panel back touched the stove. I then lowered the right side until the knob touched the knob and tightened that side finger tight. I keep testing the buttons to make sure they were still working. When the out side knobs were finger tight, I finger tightened the 2 inside knobs. Success. My oven is now working.

The touch pod on my microwavw 9je635 wont do anything when i press the boutos for timing fuction

follow this steps and fix it. God bless you

Touchpad and Control Panel

If the microwave buttons don't work the touchpad and control panel assembly are probably defective.
Touchpad

If the microwave buttons don't work the touchpad might be at fault. Generally speaking, if the dishwasher display is working and some of the buttons respond correctly but some don't, the problem is with the touchpad.
User Control and Display Board

If the microwave buttons don't work the user control and display board are most likely defective and will need to be replaced. If some of the buttons work and some don't, it is more likely a touch pad problem and the touch pad will need to be replaced.
Main Control Board

If the microwave buttons don't work the main control board is most likely defective and will need to be replaced. If some of the buttons work the touch pad is likely the problem. If none of the buttons work the problem may be in the main control board.1_24_2013_5_54_53_pm.gif1_24_2013_5_55_10_pm.jpg

There is no reset other than unplugging the power for a minute then plugging it back in.

If this in under warranty I would contact the manufacturer via the information in your owner's manual for a free repair.

If for some reason you don't still have yours, you can download Kitchenaid / Whirlpool owner's manuals and installation instructions here.

If it's out of warranty, we repair these controllers for $39.95, or you can order an LCD assembly (part number ) from the Pros here or get a refurbished unit from us here.

We're happy to help you with free advice and we'd appreciate your thoughtful rating of our answer.

Round soft key OXO Timer I need to change the clock time their model # is 1061978

Operating functions:
To set the clock, press and hold the clock/timer button for three seconds. A clock icon will appear on the left side of the screen. Input the time using the numerical buttons and then click the clock/timer button to save the time.
To set the timer, press and release the clock/timer button so that the display shows all zeroes. Enter the desired time using the keypad. Press start/stop to start the countdown. The countdown may be paused by pressing the stop/start button and resumed by pressing the same button again.
When countdown is complete, timer will beep continuously for thirty seconds and display will flash. Timer will then beep every ten seconds for ten minutes until the stop/start button is pressed.
This timer will also time up to time activities. To start count up, press clear/memory so timer reads all zeroes. Press stop/start and a plus sign will appear on the right side of the screen as the timer begins counting up.

Start button not working

We had this problem and a repairman came and replaced the entire control/display panel. Still had the problem some time after he left. I found that there are several ribbon cables in the back that plug in to the circuit board in the back of the control/display panel. There is a wide ribbon that is close to right rear burner control button, (but on the back side). The connector for this ribbon cable is the trouble. If you unsnap the connector by gently pulling out on it, it will release the ribbon cable - which you then pull out and push back in. Snap the connector back and you might be good to go for awhile. At some point, it will do it again. So, I've loosened the back sheet metal so I can reach over the back - without having to pull the oven away from the wall. I feel, with my finger tips, the wide ribbon cable, (roughly behind the right rear burner button), and press on the right side of the connector after setting the temperature. This, temporarily, enables the Start button. This works for only one time. To make it work for about a month, you have to unsnap, pull out and push back in as described above. I'll do this again when I get tired of my wife calling me to the kitchen to start the oven.
I assume the new parts will have the same problem as the original.
What a pity.

Touch pad will not respond to the touch. repair man wants to charge over $400 to fix it? this can't be right, what do you reccomend?

You guessed right- it isn't right. I think his price is based on the cost to replace the whole thing minus $100 or $200.
The touchpad is part of a board that may cost some bucks but not likely over $100 and replacing the failed one shouldn't take a blind man more than an hour; there are some housing screws to be removed, some board screws to be removed, one or two connectors to pull and replug on the new board.
If Kitchenaid wants more than $100 for the board, it is because they don't want to fool with repair items at all. I estimate that the finished board probably costs about $15 when it leaves the assembly line.
They really want you to donate yours to the landfill and buy a new one.

My KHHS179LSS-3 will not let you control microwave from touch screen un pluged unit plug back in touch error high fail low fail appears on screen

I was afraid I needed to replace the microcomputer when my KHHS179L touchpad was unresponsive. I was able to use the ADD A MINUTE feature, so I knew the unit worked. There had been a power outage of less than a minute to my home recently (I was unaware of this until I asked the kids if they had done anything to the microwave). I popped around on fixya.com and really didn't find an easy solution-my favorites. I loaded kitchenaid.com and found the answer in the FAQ's. Although the control lock out icon was NOT LIT-apparently, that power surge locked my controls. By holding the stop button for 5 seconds once and then aagain a second time, miraculously, my touchpad was restored> HOORAY!

Buttons on microwave do not work at all

Yes. The time base is important.

You could unplug it and try it again, but it may not work.

Another model's manual says, "a 120 Volt, 60 Hz,
AC only, 15- or 20-amp fused electrical supply (or circuit breaker)
is required."
