The starter pulley looks fine, however the small starter pawl and spring is missing rom the starter cup on the crank, it should be retained with a c clip from behind the cup

Mitox 28lhr long hedge trimmer does not start properly. It takes at least 50 pulls of the start cord before it starts. I've changed the spark plug but to no avail. Any advice on how to help it start

  1. Switch machine to On position.
  2. Switch choke to full.
  3. Pump the primer bulb 5 or 6 times to prime the carb.
  4. Lock the throttle on with the throttle switch.
  5. Pull over until engine fires. (it may only be a quick pop)
  6. Switch to half choke.
  7. Pull over until engine starts and runs.

Also check the air filter is clean and the fuel filter is good.

I've added a link to the manual incase you didn't have it. Page 30.

PP300 Grass Strimmer. There is something jamming the head between the drive shaft and head - underneath the fan. I think it is a piece of string wrapped around the drive shaft. All attempts to remove...

Hi chris. The head is removed like this. You get a suitable spanner to go on the nut behind the head where the cord goes and it is held tightly. The cord head screws off clock wise. You may be able to use some lubricant spray first to help free it up.

Pull on cord for weed eater y 28 yard machine hard to pull how do i repair it

Hmmmmm. The question is why does it pull hard to begin with? Did the pull cord get wrapped around the pulley in an awkward manner or is the machine seized up? If it's not to difficult, pull the muffler off the machine and look at the piston. If it looks scored (lines up and down the piston through the rings) It's shot and probably not worth fixing. But, If everything looks good, then I'd pull the starter assembly off and see if there's something going on there that's doesn't look right.

Husqvarna 325L x-series pull cord repair.

From my experience, the trick is to pull the cord all the way out, then attach the pull assembly to the engine, and let the pull rope win back in place. hope that helps.

Hi Dave.
When you are using a strimmer against stone or concrete you have to just barely allow the tip of the line to touch the ground. If too much of the line slaps off the concrete, any sharp edges or roughness on the concrete will tend to snap it. What you could try is heavier gauge strimmer line which might last longer. I used to use petrol strimmer line on my Black and Decker strimmer which was 350 watt rated. I'm not sure what effect it would have in the long term though and may wear the bearings due to the extra weight.

I have just replaced the pull cord on my whipper snipper however after fixing it im having trouble getting the actual motor back on to the shaft. It fits in but stops about 5mm short from all the way.

You probably have the counter weights from the shaft hitting the bottom of the piston skirt. To remedy this, you will have to pull the piston/connecting rod off of the shaft, turn it around and install it the other way. If you notice, the piston's skirt is longer on one side than the other in most cases.

Pull cord won't pull

Check the shaft to see if there is something stuck in there. You can pull the wire shaft out to check. It is wire but looks like a small cable. Good luck...Lee
