Your throttle clamp, may have come loose. Adjust throttle clamp. If not sure. Your owner's manual sure show you how.

Not enough info to even what is it.

A lot of walk behind mowers now have throttle-less engines. These engines run at a predetermined govern speed which the operator has no control over.

How to install throttle control spring on Honda GVARA lawnmower engine

There should be an empty hole in the throttle lever that one end of the spring goes into. The other end is attached to a stationary post directly in line with the throttle lever. Hook the spring in the throttle lever first and look for something to hook the other end on, probably in the direction away from the engine.

Help, need to start a briggs and stratton 158 mower, and can't. not mine, so not sure of its quirks, also not a lawnmower person, use a brushcutter normally. lawnmower in good condition, got oil and...

after trying to start it a bunch of times, take spark plug out and see if it's wet with gas.

All mowers start with throttle High and with the choke on OR if it has a primer bulb, you have to prime it until you see gas in the bulb

Lawnmower

It sounds like the throttle cable has moved and in doing so lets the engine run at full revs, follow the cable down the the carb on the engine, the outer part of the cable will be clamped with a bracket and screw, you need the slacken the screw and push the outer cable forward the reduce the tention on it.

Little fingers have been turning the throttle & carb screws on my lawnmowers Tecumseh AQ148 engine & now it 'hunts' & struggles to run at full throttle. What are the settings?

With many engines, you can start by screwing them all the way in. Turn each about a half turn out at the same time. try to start it. Turn a little more each. Again start it. Eventually, it will run but listen to how the engine runs. It should not be super revved up nor should it sound like it is barely staying running. Adjust one screw at a time to fine tune it once you get it to stay running. Either it will need more air or more gas. Take it for a spin..how does it cut? Does it bog down in normal grass? You may need to give the gas another half turn. Half turns on the screws to 1/4 turns once you fine tune it. Once it purrs nicely, see how well it cuts without bogging down. I hope this helps. This is the way I adjust all of my smaller engines. Make sure you check your plug and ensure it is still good before you do this and that your gas is not spoiled too. Please let me know if I have helped or if you need more help.
