Any unopened texts should stay on your sim card. Remove the sim and put it in a phone which is either on same networked or unlocked. Your texts will be waiting for you to open them. Borrow a mates phone if you need to read the texts urgently. Personally I always keep an old phone which is unlocked as a spare.

I believe you have water damage try blowdrying it with a hairdryer if this doesnt work ask your service

Your phone needs to be unlocked to use the text option. The code it is asking for is the unlock code.

All of the main sidekick features like internet, aim and email won't be available if unlocked and used on a carrier other than t-mobile.

text and calling will once unlocked though.
