I'm not sure if I am posting a solution to the Problem about Media Player opening at Start or something else, this websites look/layout is a bit confusing.
Anyway if it is, then here we go,
I've never had WMP open as the Laptop boots up (Start, loads WIndows?), but I'm guessing it can be done "If" it is somehow placed in the Start Up List/folder, though doubt that is the case.
Other thing is does it start by itself as in a scheduled daily update, or do you mean it opens as a preferred (Default Player) when clicking a media file?
Sorry I can't be more helpful when I don't have a clear picture of the problem.
cheers,

Bastan

Click on START - All Programs - Startup ----> Now look at the shortcuts that are inside this folder. If you see your media player inside right click on it and press delete.
For more information you could specify what media player it is.

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

Sounds like Autoplay is not configured. You can see how to change your Autoplay settings on Microsoft's web site here: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/change-autoplay-settings#1TC=windows-7. Autoplay is a strange duck, doesn't always work regardless of settings. You can also open 'computer', which in Windows 81 shows as your User Name, not 'Computer' or 'My Computer' like older versions, then right-click Drive: D, and click 'Play with VLC Media Player', which is the best player I believe - I've used it for years.

Hp laptops. How can I open each program using it's own program.

Select Default Programs is one way. As you install, say a media player, in the install you will see something like Choose as Default for all media or select media to open with this software, every Media player will offer this option and will default to ALL media, so with every install it will change, unless you read each box during install, don't just blindly click next, it's been known to add unnecessary Toolbars, change your Home Page, add Malware, etc., etc., etc. Which I'm sure you are aware of. You can open the File location, music, video, etc. right click, select Open With, select media player, OR, right click, select file, select Properties, Change, apply. OR use the Default Programs on the start menu. Take a look at this, you didn't post your Make, Model of Laptop or the OS you are using, for Win7: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/change-which-programs-windows-uses-by-default

Acer aspire 2930 DVD player only opens some dvds

Try Media player classic under k-lite codec pack. Then open video files on the dvd. If it doesn't help try another codec player. If nothing helps could it be that dvd player is not capable of multilayer dvd reading.

Wanna change my defalt media player

Well M8, fist of all, mediaplayer plays avi-files:) you just need to uppdate the codes on it.
But if you want VLC to play all your files, i like VLC to, that easy done.
select an avi file, rightclick on it, select OPEN WHIT, select VLC and mark the little square that asks if you want the all similar files should be open with VLC.
Then do the same on every other media format you want your to start in VLC, not all the files, just one of each format. Dnt forget to mark the square in every one you change.

Good luck to you!
