Re: 110v

Usually it "Blows" the primary winding of the step down transformer and often does nothing else, if ya lucky, so try replacing the transformer, sometimes it can also, as well blow the Bridge Rectifier OR rectifier Diodes, on the secondry side. I havent seen schematics have you Goggled for them?

Power supply wont start

you have to do some alteration for the supply. The conversion can be made with the help of step up transformer (110 in 220 out). This kind of transformer is available in the market. This can only be done by some expert in this field. If you are a technical person and can handle this kind of issue then do it yourself otherwise get it done with the help of expert technician.

good luck

I plugged in my kids tv to 220v outlet when my tv is 110v. doesn't turn on, just want to know if it is repairable or not?

Most likely it damaged components in the primary side of the main power supply. I would say it is worth a check out fee. Should not be too expensive to repair. Thanks for using fixya.

Power failer when switching on tv

A fuse blows when there is a fault and it is the first line of protection for the equipment. The fuse used in a typical plug is rated at 4A/220V. This means that a indeed fault does exist inside the equipment that is forcing it to draw a current greater than the rated. Almost certainly, the primary circuit of your Goodmans is at fault. If you are familiar with TV repair then check the bridge rectifier as well as the reservoir capacitor, with the switching semiconductor (BJT or MOSFET or IC) removed. If the fuse blows then the rectifier/capacitor are to blame. If not, then the semiconductor is at fault. If you are a novice, then rather refer servicing to a qualified tech since the risks outweigh the benefits.

Will not turn on

The power surges and lighting damages are ussually extensive, alot of times more than one component and more than one circuit gets damage, home owner insurance cover this damages but the insurance company does not repair the damaged unit they replace them because is not worth repairing. To troubleshoot you will need the squematic diagram to locate and correct the different circuits that might be involved ,be careful there are voltages that can hurt you if you are not too familiar and touch one by accident.

Tv won't turn on

you probably got a power surge and could have blown an internal fuse or the power supply was damaged. If you know about troubleshooting electronic curcuits then your gonna first need a schematic diagram and that can be gotten from sams photo facts They have almost any tv diagramand is downloadable too. If you dont under stand how the set works then I would advise a pro taking a look at it as it could be a current limiter resistor or a regulator IC .. Good Luck
