Serious eye irritation during heating operation.

Our eyes burn and get watery when we are sitting in the same room with the unit. We only use the unit for heating, and the filter is clean. We are starting to feel like we should not use it anymore...it is only 3 years old...not a very good investment as it now stands. We notice this particular model has been discontinued...I fear this is related to this problem.

What unit is it? If any appliance is making you sick, or causing you harm in ANY way, do not use it under any circumstances, please.

It might be a lack of humidity in the room though I expect the root of the problem is either a lack of good maintenance or bad original installation or a combination of both.

The fact the model has been discontinued is meaningless and I think you should contact a good maintenance engineer to check the unit and provide a report before you make any decisions.

Find your manual and check the code of the blinking green light. It will give you the resolution for your code. If you still have issues, post a comment back on this thread and I will be able to help you. You will need your model number for the website.

SOURCE: Will Not Heat

On the outdoor unit the fan should not be running, on the indoor unit the fan should be running. If you then check the outdoor unit with fan not running, you should be able to hear clearly that the compressor is actually working. If this is all correct, it is possible that your fourway reverse valve is seeping and needs to be replaced.

Bile can burn your esophagus. I would go to the ER to get meds for that.

We are going camping and are taking some first aid equipment with us. Someone suggested we take eye wash. Is that necessary?

Medical eye wash can be really useful for relieving irritation, burning and itching, caused by infections, allergies or foreign material in the eye. Rinsing with the solution can ease the symptoms.

Ammonia smell when air conditioning running,is it safe to be in trailer

Ammonia is toxic to breathe, even at low levels. Ammonia fumes are very irritating and corrosive to the eyes, nose and airways. Fumes may cause a burning sensation, coughing, wheezing, shortness of breath, laryngitis, rhinitis and watery eyes, even at low levels. People with asthma or other respiratory problems may be especially sensitive to ammonia fumes, as may individuals with corneal disease, glaucoma, or severe liver damage.

Why do my eyes always burn?

The eyes burn because nerves on the surface of the eye are irritated.
The nerves are irritated because something is wrong with the moist surface of the eyes.

Tears furnish moisture to the ocular surface.

Now, about your problem. The most likely cause for your burning is a defective tear film: inadequate tear production, abnormal chemistry, wrong, pH, etc.

It would be wise to have Dr. Easton evaluate you. It is most likely a simple case of dry eyes, but there are other major medical problems that include tear film deficiencies. Your physician knows what questions to ask and what diagnostic tests to perform. In the meantime, she can recommend the best treatment plan to relieve your discomfort.

My ventless gas heater smells like kerosene..wont burn off? makes us sick !!! bad headaches, watery eyes..gas co came , said it wasnt the gas?...no matter how long it burns, wont go away,we have cleaned it...

Stuff in the air can make you very sick when it is burned, is it Natural Gas or LP? Sometimes you can get bad LP gas that will burn your eyes. I would open a window to get more fresh air and try to let it burn to get whatever is making the problem out of the air.

Burning eyes and sore throat when heater is on

This heater should only be used in a very well ventilated area, the sore throat and burning eyes are from carbon monoxide.
Carbon monoxide is potentially fatal.  I cannot express how dangerous this is if used in a house or garage without the doors open
Please be careful and let me know if I can provide furthur assistance.
