Question about D-Link AirPlus DI-524 Wireless Router

1 Answer

When connected to internet via D link 524 router, laptop won't allow opening some web pages

For example I cannot use webmail properly, cannot download or upload attachments, even cannot reply or forward on yahoo, while I have no problem browsing other webpages. There is the same problem with another webmail service I am using, and with one website where the content is not shown entirely. It just reports error as if the internet connection is lost. If laptop is connected directly via cable to the ADSL modem, everything works without problem. I suspect there is a security setting on the router that prevents some actions, but don't know how to change. Please advise. Thanx

Re: When connected to internet via D link 524 router,...

Can you surf to websites via your wireless connection without a problem? Is it only web-based email that's giving you problems? It may be caused by a firewall that is blocking traffic on your wireless connection but not on your LAN-card. Are you using a security suite (McAfee, Norton, etc)? You might want to check those settings too. Finally, make sure that the IP-settings of your wireless card are the same of those of your LAN-card. Can you connect to your router via wireless, Check the various settings there too. G'luck.

I have DI 524 d-link. Internet works on desktop and one laptop. Just got a new laptop and everytime I try to connect on the network of 1st. laptop, it says connected with limited access. unable to have...

Make sure that every setting in the new laptop matches the settings in the router. If one setting is off, you will not get a connection. It is also possible that the router is set to only allow specific computers to connect to it. If that is the case you will have to add the new laptop to the allowed connections in the wireless settings of the router.

If the Router is new proceed to Step 1. If the Router is used power on and press and hold the Reset button for about 10 seconds. It is located next to where the power cord is plugged in. Use either a pen or paper clip to push reset button.

Problem with startup wizard

For security reasons some wireless routers will not allow access to their setup pages via wireless unless some settings are changed.

you have to connect to the router from your computer with a ethernet cable into port 1,2,3 or 4 (ports at the beck of the router)and go to the website

A logon pop-up screen will appear. Type "admin" for the username and leave the password field blank.

make sure you plugged the "internet" ethernet cord into the internet or WAN port at the back of the router.

When connected to internet via router, laptom won't allow opening some web pages

Hi marijajev, There are two (2) things we can do, but let's give the first one a try first and pls post back the results before I post the second one if that's ok with you. 1. On your laptop, open your browser: 1.1 Internet Explorer - click on Tools/Internet Options/Connections Tab/LAN Settings/Check Automatically detect settings, OK, OK, or 1.2 Mozilla - click on Tools/Options/Advanced/Network Tab/Connection Settings button/Tick Auto-detect proxy settings for this network, OK, OK, or 1.3 Opera - click on Tools/Preferences/Advanced Tab/Proxy servers button/Tick Use automatic proxy configuration, OK, OK It is better to reboot. After rebooting, right click on your networking icon bottom right side in your System Tray and click on repair. If the any of the above works then your set, if not you can always revert back to the original settings but pls post back status that I may post 2nd. Hope this works out for you. Good luck and kind regards.
