How do i get my thinkvison to get out of power saving mode

I do not know how many Thinkvision models are out there, but here is a site that offers manuals you can read online or download.
This is just a page from the manual I found. Here is a link to the manual I found. http://www.manualslib.com/manual/91948/Lenovo-Thinkvision-E54.html#manual
THIS MONITOR WILL APPEAR TO BE NON-FUNCTIONAL IF
THERE IS NO VIDEO INPUT SIGNAL. IN ORDER FOR THIS
MONITOR TO OPERATE PROPERLY, THERE MUST BE A VIDEO
INPUT SIGNAL.
This feature is designed to conserve electrical energy by reducing power
consumption when there is no video input signal present.when there is no
video input signal present. When there is no video input signal, this monitor,
following a time-out period, will automatically switch to an OFF mode. And the
LED will turn orange. This reduces the monitor's internal power supply
consumption. After the video input signal is restored, full power is restored
and the display is automatically redrawn. The appearance is similar to a
"Screen Saver" feature except the display is completely off. The display is
restored by pressing a key on the keyboard, or clicking the mouse. Lenovo ThinkVision E54 User Manual

Monitor goes into power saving mode while working with xp operating system

Probably not a problem with the monitor but rather the power settings for windows. right click on the desktop and go down to properties select the screensaver tab and click the power settings button. Under here you can change the settings for when the monitor shuts down. Personally I would select never.

Thinkvision monitor is in power save mode. It is not connecting to Thinkpad laptop

There are 2 possible reasons for this:
- Your Laptop resolution is not supported from the monitor. Solution: reduce the resolution to something smaller (e.g. 800x600) and then gradually increase it untill you have the maximum accepted resolution from the monitor.
- You have not switched the Laptop display to point to the external monitor. Solution: do that b pressing the corresponding shortcuts in your Thinkpad keyboard. (usually a bottom left key together with a top key).

Monitor in power saving mode, can't turn on computer., what is power saving mode

You may have power supply problem in the monitor (90% of the LCD monitor failures are due to bad caps in the power supply).
Try it on another PC, also check all the pins on the VGA cable. If it still does not work and you want to DIY repair, the plase read below;
Most common failures in the LCD monitors are bad capacitors (bulging top/seal or leaking) in the power supply, blown fuses, failed inverter circuits (blown fuse, shorted transistors, shorted/open transformers), bad lamps (poor solder connections or worn out lamps). You will need to open it up and inspect the inside, see example of failed monitors to get some ideas what to look for: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums
Post back what you see inside so we can guide you further and it will help out other people in the future also.

17 lcd l170 black screen power on but no display

When powered-on, and *NOT* connected to a computer, most ThinkVision LCD monitors will flash, for a few seconds, the IBM ThinkVision "logo", before going into "power-saving" mode. If you don't see that, then it's time to spend about $120, and buy a new 19" (not 17") LCD monitor.
