The hp 4550n color laserjet will print, then it will not print. Right now
it will not print. I checked with hp and I have the latest drivers. I
am using vista but it has printed many times before with vista but
I can't get it going now. Sometimes if I shut it and my computer
off and start again, it will print but today......no. Thanks for any
advice.

I found some info regarding this at the HP site. Go to this link and you will find the error code descriptions: Good Luck! http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?objectID=bpl08400#A10
Hi, I notice you have ruled out the transfer belt as asolution because it has 59% life left. Not to be rude but this does not exclude the transfer belt as the problem. I am 98%-100% sure that if you change the trasnsfer belt you will solve your problem.
I was doing work for a large corp. that sent a guy from Ohio to Colorado twice for this problem before he asked my opinion I told him tranfer belt. He was a Hero.
Hope this helps.
it a transfer belt issue....there is a test you can perform to confirm. When the first page comes out of the printer blank, open and close the back cover. If the next page comes out with print on it, then the transfer belt is the issue. One thing you can try is take the old belt down to a service station with a good air compressor and then use the air compressor to blow the heck out of the belt until no more toner comes out.
try doing a self test print, if that works then you most likely have a communication problem between your computer and the printer. Try unplugging the usb cable and plug it back in see if you get any response.
This is a common error code meaning that the printer does not understand a command. Redearch suggests that you try the following:
Be sure the printer does not go thru a power strip, but is plugged directly into the wall.
Check the printer cable, maybe swap it with another one.
Reseat the memory and formatter board.
Lengthen the power saver time to the maximum
Try printing from a different application
There have been cases where replacing the intermediate transfer belt has solved the problem.
Good luck!
