Mitsubishi electric Mr Slim wall unit heat and air. strange smell coming out when air is on, we cleaned filters, but do not know where the heat exchange is or the the fan to clean them

Ductless split systems are know for creating a mildew looking "stuff" on the blower wheel. Try to open/move the louvers on the front of the indoor unit. By opening the "osculation blade"/louvers, you can see the blower wheel, normally blue in color. See if it has some mildew growing on it. If so, I found that a tooth brush and about 2 hrs labor does some good. I've found some aerosol spray, called mildew removal. Works great at covering up/controlling the smell. It's also possible that the unit is pulling air from the condensation drain line. These lines can for algae, and give us a sour yuck smell. To clean, use a wet vacuum, and clean from the outlet of the drain line. Hope this helps!

My haier air condition doesn't have anything on vent to get cool air\r\ni believe it had styrofoam which got thrown away because we though it wasn't needed

I don't think a piece of thrown away Styrofoam is the problem. I'm more concerned that you may have also thrown the Owner's Manual away too. You said, "there's nothing on the front to get cool air in." Are you saying, that the front of the unit that has fixed louvers at the bottom and adjustable louvers at the top is missing? Because that's where the cool air comes out thru the adjustable louvers), when the unit is in operation. If the entire front of the unit is missing and the unit is brand new, you need to contact retailer you purchased it from ASAP.

I hope this helps and thank you for choosing FixYa.

Where is air intake filter? unit is icing up Thanks so much

The air intake filter is one of 2 places. In either case, it's behind the front louvers

1. Remove the water collection bucket from it's holder. Look up into the bucket holder, just behind
the front louvers. You should see what looks like a plastic frame. It may have a pull tab handle. In
any event, the is the filter frame. Pull it straight down and out. It can be cleaned with a vacuum or
if it's really dirty, wash it in warm water and dish washing liquid, rinse and allow to completely dry
before reinstalling it. NEVER operate the unit without the filter in place. Doing so, could damage
the unit.

2, Look on the right hand side of the unit's cabinet, just behind the louvers. If you see what appears
to be a op open door, the filter is behind that door. Follow the above directions for cleaning the

I hope this helps you. Please let be know.

MY dehumdifier is blowing warm air ,Is there a fitler that needs to be cleaned and how is this done ? Model 3fdl5051 50pints

It's not unusual for a dehumidifier to blow warm air. As it may be in defrost mode. Even so, they still blow warm air.

The model number you furnished is slightly helpful. Knowing what brand it is, would be even better.

Never-the-less, the filter should be located behind the front louvers of the unit. Turn the Master ON/OFF Switch to OFF and unplug the unit. Remove the water collection bucket and look up inside the bucket holder, just behind the front louvers. You may see a plastic pull tab handle. If so, that's the filter frame. Pull it straight down and out.

If you didn't find it there, look on the right hand side of the unit, just behind the louvers for what looks like a a flip open door. If you see that, flip the door open and remove the filter.

The filter can be cleaned using a vacuum cleaner or if it's really dirty, wash it in warm water and dish washing liquid. Thoroughly rinse and allow to completely dry, before reinstalling it. NEVER operate the unit without the filter in place.

Hope this helped you. Please let me know. Thanks.

Have whirlpool gold accuwave micro hood combo model# GH51884XPS5

The inspector is correct, air should be coming through the top louvers, although you sometimes will have a little air coming from the sides and back. Drop the microwave and see which way the blower is rotated, towards the louvers or towards the back or top. Some units also have a panel that blocks the venting from going the wrong way. Air conditioner blows hot air from dash

On most cars when you push a button or slide a lever to change your choice of location where you want the air to blow out louvers move inside the dash to redirect the air to your chosen location. When you switch from heat to AC other louvers move. These louvers are often powered by vacuum lines running from the engine. If one of these louvers is stuck or if you have a vacuum leak in one of the lines it may be causing your problem.

GE air conditioner with air louvers on top of case - problem?

Most fan motors are allergic to water. You should carefully examine the places where rain could go and decide whether GE has sold you a risky situation. After all, they have left it up to you to make the decision.

I wouldn't buy one with openings on the top and I wouldn't keep one after GE has demonstrated that not responding is the kind of help you will receive.

Its only blowing cool out of one side of the top

Due to design of window type air conditioners it is normal for more air to come out the right side air outlet at the top. Some units have air louvers to help minimize this natural action. Setting the air louvers will assist in redirecting the air flow.
