Z50 electric start

Get out your multimeter and check the TOTAL voltage. You should have 24 volts or 36 volts depending on model. If you don't, take them all of and charge each one on a car charger set at 2 amps. Clean all the battery connectors with a wire brush and also the connectors. Smear them with Vaseline. Also make sure you have the batteries wired in correctly. If don incorrectly, you may be running on 12 volts!

The battery is flat, the alternator is not charging the battery.

This description does sound like a battery that is running to flat or not charging enough to crank the machine, Assuming the down hill roll is a "clutch start". If you handy with a multi meter, just check the voltage on the battery, if it is not a maintenance free battery it might just need a top up. If it is still the original battery, you might just get away a couple of months or another year by reconditioning it.It might also have the charging cables being loose or worn depending on the use it has. sounds like a dead battery, if not than its probably the rectifire. if you need me to help i can.
