How do i get my soleus air conding unit to blow cold air, its blowing cool air. can i recharge this unit myself -if so then what type of freon would i use.

most likely have to install a line tap valve to charge. look for oil residue on lines to indicate leak. the evaporator is the weak point on most a/c systems.

R-410A or r410a Why This Refrigerant is Better

One of the best benefits of R-410A refrigerant is its exceptionally quiet operation. Other key benefits of R-410A and the air conditioning systems that use it are higher EER (Energy Efficiency Ratio) better heat-pump performance, increased efficiency and reliability. There is also no ozone-depleting chemicals. R410A has the lowest Global Warming TEWI (Total Equivalent Warming Impact). Probably the most important benefit of R-410A is that it will still be available long after the production of R-22 units is stopped in 2010. Although contractors are still using the lower pricing of R-22 equipment as a selling point when talking to their customers, many smart ones are now also selling the environmental benefits of R-410A.They are also selling the benefits of the new technology and the improved comfort level of the new R-410A equipment.

There are many efficiency and economical benefits to R-410A. It has become very important for techs to inform their customers of the many benefits of R-410A products. Some of the benefits of R-410A are low energy consumption, increased product performance, no ozone depleting chemicals (no chlorine), and improved product reliability. The new products that use R-410A are state of the art technology, feature enhanced heat pump and air conditioning performance and meet the clean air act requirements for 2010.

For many years most air conditioners and heat pumps sold around the world used a refrigerant called R-22. Homeowners and business owners now have the ability to ask for an air conditioner or heat pump that uses the more efficient and environmentally friendlier refrigerant called R-410A. When you buy a new air conditioning or heat pump system by selecting R-410A you virtually eliminate the possibility that refrigerant leaking from your system could contribute to the hole in the ozone layer. You will also be investing in a new comfort system that will last you for many years to come. This is because R-410A (a chlorine-free refrigerant) complies with governmental legislation to phase out ozone-depleting refrigerants well ahead of the 2010 deadline. Another thing to consider is that the costs of R-22 will begin to rapidly rise when the production of R-22 units are phased out by January 1, 2010. Because of this there will be less R-22 refrigerant produced.

One of the greatest benefits of R-410A is that it will still be available for a long after the production of R-22 units ceases in 2010. If you are installing an air conditioner or heat pump in the near future, make sure that you specify that the unit uses R-410A refrigerant.
Do not allow the installation of a R-22 unit even if the pricing is much lower. The future costs of a repair to the unit will more than offset the savings now.

What type of refrigerant should be used in a Mitsubishi ms09tw 2001 air conditioner?

The answer is R410A.

Refrigerant Types in a Central Air Conditioner
There are 2 different types of air conditioning refrigerant currently used in residential cooling systems. R-22, commonly referred to a Freon and R410A, a blend considered to be more environmentally friendly, sometimes called Puron.

R410A (sometimes known as Puron), is the industry's choice to replace R-22 in central air conditioning systems. It is less reactive with the environment while having the same home cooling characteristics of R-22. R410A is not interchangeable with R-22-you choose one or the other and your air cooling equipment is designed to operate with it. When you purchase a R-410A system, a new line set is included with your central air installation as well as a new evaporator coil. Our experience with R-410A has been excellent. New cooling systems have been dependable and efficient, as well as operating quieter! R-410A is the refrigerant of the future!

Less reactive with the environment
Replaces R-22 in the year 2020
Cannot be used with R-22 systems
Quiet and dependable
Freon, R22, heat pump refrigerant
R-22 also known as Freon has been used for decades as the refrigerant in central air conditioning systems. However it has been linked to Ozone depletion and has therefore been banned from being manufactured after the year 2010. It's price will increase as the supply decreases.

Good luck,

Marty

Air conditioning not cold enough .

You need to check the following :

1. Refrigerant gas presssure ( It should has at least 60 psi on suction side)
2. Clean lines of unit ( Dirty unit will downgrade the performance)
3. Compressor performance ( Did you hear abnormally sound of it while running?. It may deteriorated already).

Hello,KY the defrost function is not working. The wire goes to frost sensor or the outside unit control. It is LOW voltage wire.Turn the unit off and carefully look for a abandond/bare wire.Maybe a single wire with a wire nut/cap or splice.Reconnect the wire as there should be no EXTRA wires. The unit will make a strange noise when restarted.Good luck.

How to best run this thing

Hi Laurelrobin,
When the unit is on "low fan", it is fan only, and is recirculating room air. If the damper is open, it can also bring in outside air. If the space is not occupied for extended periods, it's OK to turn the unit "OFF", as long as you have a newer unit with Heat Sentinel, and the Heat Sentinel is turned on. Heat Sentinel will not let the room temp get above 85F, as long as the unit is OFF. Also, in most cases it's best to keep the damper closed. You can check your owner's manual for more info on the Heat Sentinel and other auxiliary functions. I also have an article on the temperature limiting functions of the GE Zoneline.

Use archive.org to look on an old version of their website to see if later models use the same parts. (Check the manuals, they will have pictures). They were fine sending me parts for a 2001 crib today.
