What same issue is that Scott?

Your other problem stated is to do with an automobile.
You are in the Laptop PC category now.
There is also no other problem nearby, to refer back to.

Why does "Protect" appear on my receiver before going out?

Hi,

The receiver will go into protection mode when there is a short in the speaker wires or the amplifier was overloaded. verify that none of the speaker wire connections are loose at the back of the receiver or at each speaker. And verify that none of the wires are making contact with each other.

if it is, then remove the speaker wires and connect them again properly. After disconnection g the speaker wires, unplug the receiver for 10 to 15 minutes. This will make the overload protection back to normal

Try this and let me know. I hope this would solve the issue

Thanks

E machines h 5038

I had found one continuous problem with the E machine. The CPU fan. Take the cover off. Turn on the system. Is the cpu fan running or very noisey???. I find that the fan as most others collect a lot of dust. You will have to either vacumn or blow the dust & dirt out to free the fan so it spins normally. If the fan has stopped or stops and starts, replace it that may be the reason for the freeze up due to the cpu chip becoming overheated. Now if you are talking about the other fan. The power supply fan stopping and starting the system would shut down when that happens. That would be another issue.
