Question about Marvel Chateau 6SBARE Wine Cooler

Open Question

Help replacing 6SBARE Display thermistor (Part No. 42246463).

I have an E4 code on my 6SBARE wine cooler. According to the manual this is a defective display thermistor. I purchased a replacement thermistor but I'm having a little difficulty trying to figure out the installation procedure. Do I have to completely pull the unit out from the build-in cabinet or can this be done without pulling the unit out? Thank you. Regards, Chase

E4 code on display

E3 & E4 error code means problem with the connectors for the fans to the middle separator shelf are put in the pathway of condensation. This causes them to get wet and rust.

Check the fan connectors by removing the two screws that hold the shelf in place and cafefully slide out fron the cooler. Just replaced the factory connectors with insulated bullet connectors.

Hope this helps; and just keep in mind that your feedback is important and I'll appreciate your time and consideration if you leave some testimonial comment.

Have a nice day and thanks for using FixYa.

I have a e4 code on my wine cooler

Hi,

I am sorry to hear regarding the trouble. This is a common problem on this unit. E4 refers to a faulty control board failure. Unplug the unit for few minutes, say 15 minutes and then turn it on. If this would not reset the error code, the only solution is to replace the board.

I wish i could have a better solution.

Let me know,if needed further assistance.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

My wine cooler will not run at all. The compressor is Ok. The cooler uses relay 41006036 rev E. I do get continuity on both the pot and the thermistor. What is the correct resistance for the thermistor...

The temp. sensor displays the wrong temp.

Dear Sir/Madaam,

The 6SBAR-BS-G does not have a digital temperature display. Could you provide your correct model number? The 6SBARE-BS-G does have a digital display and has two temperature sensors.

One is used for control and the other is used for display. The are connected to the back of the display board by small white molex connectors. The smallest is for (two pin) is for the control and the three pin (although only two of the pins are used) is for the display.

The unit does not have to be removed for it's installed location to change the thermsitor, (temperature sensor), but you will want the power off when you swap it out.

You can order a new sensor from a few sites on line but the best thing to do is call the factory direct at 800-223-3900. The part number for the display thermsitor is 42246463 (the control thermsitor is 42246462). If your unit is more than a year old you may wish to replace both sensors while you are doing the work. If you are doing the work yourself, ask the customer service technician if he/she would email you the service manual as well.

Let me know if you need any further assistance - Subdriver

E4 Code

Between phone calls to danby and my neighbor, we fixed this problem. My E4 was on the left (lower chamber). If you have one on the right it is the upper chamber. The E4 is a defrost sensor that can be ordered from Danby's distributor (call Danby for the one in your area). The part and shipping were around $30.

If your E4 is on the left...

- remove the top shelves
- open the cover inside the cooler above the digital read outs (the top unscrews)
- inside is were the repacement sensor plugs in
- replace the one with the long cord
- run the sensor down the back to the lower chamber
- replace all covers and parts

If the E4 is on the right...

- remove the top shelves
- look on the right hand wall for a black plastic grate, the sensor is under this grate
- replace the sensor (simple plug and play)
- replace the racks.

Please pass this on, it was a ***** to deal with Danby and I nearly trashed the cooler out of sheer frustration.

E4 Code

Dear moriquenda
welcome to fixya.
Did you try resetting the system by pulling the plug and waiting 5 minutes then restarting the wine cooler? This may solve you problem.

Danby expects customers to call service and does not imagine the rest of the world being able to utilize these codes.
Closed minded, Huh?

Please remember to leave a rating!

If you are getting the E4 error code, try replacing the defrost sensor. The part might take forever to get to you, but we replaced the sensor on the wine cooler and it's working.

Danby DWC283BLS Wine Cooler - Error message E3 & E4

Is the compressor running? I don't know this unit, but know that if you are too warm that is the first thing to check. In reading about another unit that had a different problem, it was mentioned that there is a ciruit board. If it has relays on it then these are the most likely culprit. They are either not making contact or staying in contact too long... sometimes just tapping each relay usually a black plastic component will cause it to work intermittently..Not sure if you can get these but call the company help line at 1-800-263-2629.
