You didn't post the Asus Model or the OS you are using? Have you done ANY updates? Have you tried a System Restore to a date before this issue? When you restarted did you remove the battery?

SOURCE: unable to start laptop

Hello,

I understand the urgency and also the importance of data stored in the laptop.

As the laptop is unable to start in normal mode let us try in safe mode.

Follow the steps below:

1. Turn the laptop off completely.
2. Press the power on button to turn it on and at the same time simultaneously keep tapping ' F8 ' key on key pad until you see a advanced boot options screen.
3. Select 'safe mode' and hit enter.

Thank you.

SOURCE: My FN+F6 doesnt keep my screen on the laptop open

Change the settings from the display settings panel. (Right click on the desktop and go to display settings)
You should see 2 monitors graphically represented there.
You can make the monitor that is greyed out active by right clicking on the monitor, and selecting active.

Hello there. Follow my steps:

  1. Go to support.asus.com
  2. Select "Download" (if you don't see a "Download" button due to being in another language, select the last item from the main menu and select "English)
  3. Find your laptop model using the wizard
  4. Select your operating system (to determine whether if it's a 32bit/64bit, go to your start menu > right click on "Computer" for Windows Vista/7 or "My computer" for Windows XP and look for a text which says "XX bit operating system)
  5. Go to the "ATK" tree
  6. Download the "ATK Hotkey Utility" thingy and install it.

The icon colours should match ...usually blue and you have to tap the brightness up button repeatedly as it is incremental.point worth noting.if the power supply is not connected the battery save option can disable the brightness of screen to stretch out the life of battery between charges.

When I connect my ASUS monitor to my Dell laptop the ASUS monitor displays nothing instead it says "No Signal"

Hi

You do not say if your laptop screen is working or not or why you want to use an external monitor.

Assuming the laptop has no fault and boots properly, to send the laptop image to an external monitor, once you have booted into Windows, press and hold the Fn (function) key bottom left of your keyboard, near the Windows Logo key, then simultaneouly press the Function key (above the numbers) with the image of 2 monitors, 1 dark, 1 bright (often the F4, F5 or F6 key).

If the laptop's screen is faulty and the above procedure does not work, there may be damage to the graphics card which will probably require specialist repair.

I hope this helps.

Can't increase brightness, pop-up for brightness control does not appear when you press Fn and F6 only when Fn and F5 but the brightness is at minimum.

You need to install the hot key software. You can also change the brightness by going to power options.
It's the driver is available at http://uk.asus.com/product.aspx?P_ID=IGLKH3VUoGlp8KE1 it's the 1005PE version but it works fine, just go to the download tab & select the OS you use.

How to adjust the brightness on my sony vaio pcg-k17?

To adjust the brightness control, press Fn + F5 and release, plus the RIGHT ARROW or LEFT ARROW keys to increase or decrease the value.

On most notebook computers you can use the Fn+F5 keys to lower the screen brightness level, and the Fn+F6 keys to raise the screen brightness level.

My lcd is too bright

Screen Brightness can be adjusted in either of these 2 ways....

1 Power Options(Start >Control Panel>Power Options)

Or by presing FN+ F5and using Function Key (FN) + F5/F6. F5 will decrease the brightness, F6 will increase it...

If neither of those work, Click
>Start
> Preferences
>Power Management
