Question about Cambridge Audio 640R 7.1 Channels Receiver

Open Question

No sound and OSD is playing up

I have a 6 year old 640R and I have been having issues with the sound dropping out. In the beginning I blamed my kids for playing with the controls, but I have now experienced it first hand. In the past if I played around with various selections of the controller sound would come back but now it just is not there. I have also noticed that the OSD started to have a few lines through it which steadily got worse to make it unreadable and now there is no display at all (For the OSD - video from inputs is coming through). Took it in for repair and was quoted $850 for a new board. No support from the local agents in Australia. Has anyone else experience this and maybe has a solution? I can't believe that 6 years is an acceptable life for an amp.

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

How do I fix or replace a fuel line?

Hi Merre:
Sure, blame the kid.
Easiest fix would be to cut out the section where the hole is and install a piece of flexible tubing. CAUTION! Gas is extremely flammable. Use appropriate tools (NOT a Zip Cutter).
Best fix would be to replace fuel line.
I'd suggest that youcheck with a parts supply to see if appropriate gas lines are available. You may need to use a flaring tool if you have to "custom build" the line.
It's OK kid, the cars is 15 years old and the line was probably rusted.
Cheers.

Cambridge Audio Azur 640R AV Recorder won't switch off

Sounds like the unit is victim of a power surge. The power control board is probably damaged. You will be better off replacing the amp as having it repaired will cost more than replacing it.

I have a JVC turntable and an old Sansui reciever. Last night I was playing a record, and it stopped playing out of one speaker, and makes a loud buzzing noise. However, when I push the Mono button

You should check the connections to the turntable, it sounds like it might be feedback hum, caused by a wire touching or something like that. Don't forget to check the connections to the cartridge too.

Do all kids know how to pretend play? My 3 year old just is not that interested in playing with toys that do not have a specific purpose. Should I worry?

All kids are different and even when guidelines for 'normal development' are given, it doesn't mean you should panic if your child isn't meeting those milestones. If your child can generally play with other kids, even if it's more side by side playing than teamwork, then I wouldn't worry too much.
If you are concerned, you can always consult your doctor for reassurance

Loads the beginning (intro) of games, then freezes... I've only played maybe 70 hours on it and it's less than a year old.

If this freezing is consistent across all games you are having a heat issue. Since your unit is less than a year old go to www.xbox.com/support and request a repair.
