SOURCE: need manual to see what size bolt is that holds on

Hi and welcome to FixYa. I am Kelly,

It appears your model number is 74370 There are 3 bolts one for each blade and the part number is 26-0671 or 260671 for the blade mount.

Part look up:

http://www.jackssmallengines.com
then enter part number 260671 $6.31 ea.

You can not use just any bolt for this. They are hardened bolts with an NF thread. If you use a non hardened bolt the blade will fly off when the bolt shears.

This bolt is available at most all Lawn Mower Parts Supply sources. Toro uses the same bolt on most all of their mowers.

If you do not have a Lawnmower Parts Supply near by, you might be able to go to an Autoparts supply source with yet one of the other blade bolts in hand and have them match the markings on the bolt head with yours so that you have the exact replacement bolt.

Any other parts for your mower can be found here:
http://www.jackssmallengines.com/help.cfm

Use the Search model window. each line below is a drop down window
Toro
Riding
74370 <- there are numerous models up to 74704
enter your model number if different.

Thanks for using FixYa.

If you store this machine outdoors than you might have a little water in the system, otherwise give the carb a good cleaning.

Why does yardworks 173cc bs engine will start, run, for 2-3 seconds then stop

Bad gas. Drain gas and refill with fresh gas with Stabil. Old oil. Drain oil fill with fresh 30w oil, 16-18oz. Clean air filter and spark plug.. Relpace air filter if dirty. Saving $$$ on this simple tune up is not intelligent.

How do you adjust throttle cable on yardman push mower

If there is excess slack in the throttle cable, you can do 1 of 2 things. Either replace the cable, as over time it gets stretched out. Or you can look by the throttle and you should be able to slightly screw out the set screw and take a little slack out and then tighten the screw back up. If there is anything more I can do, let me know. Thanks.

Is the blade take off on a walmart yardman mower clockwise or counterclockwise? I dont want to snap a bolt off.

Hi,
To remove it you need to turn it counterclockwise...place a block of wood between the blade and the mower to hold the blade, so that you do not need to hold the sharp part of the blade with your hand...

The blades are stuck on

Apply some GOOD rust penetrating oil, like PB Blaster or Liquid Wrench to the affected area. Let the penetrant do it's work by allowing it to soak into the parts. 24 hours is long enough. A pre-cleaning with a stiff steel wire brush is recommended though, so the penetrating oil can work better.
Some people heat rusted parts after treating them to break them loose. Most mower blades are installed on a blade adapter that slides onto the bottom of the crankshaft of the mower. Try NOT to round off the heads of the blade bolts. Patience is the key. Impact sockets may have to be used on the bolts if they are extremely stubborn. Use tools that offer absolutely no slack or play in them when put on the blade bolts.

I have a yardman 6.5 h,p.push mower. How do I drain the oil to change it and how do I remove the blade to sharpen it?

I am assuming you have a Briggs & Stratton motor. If you have a "yardman" engine the procedure is still the same.
Changing the oil: Your mower does not have a drain plug on the bottom of the mower. Remove the dipstick and tip the mower over on that side. Let the oil run out and leave it tipped over for 5 minutes or so to get all the old oil out. Replace it with 22 oz of good 10w30 or straight 30w oil. I personally use Mobil One and change it once a year.
Blade: With the mower turned over you will see a bolt in the center of the blade. Remove that bolt and the blade will come off. Use a box-end or socket so you don't mess up the nut. It may be hard to loosen at first. Inspect the blade. If it has not large nicks or the dings and the back of the blade is not worn too much (the curved part) you can sharpen it with a file or grinder. Try to take the same amount off of both ends of the blade. (If you want to know how to balance the blade let me know)
If the blade has large dings, is bent different on one side more than the other, or parts of it have cracks, replace it with a new one.

Don't forget to change the air filter.
