Testimonial: "I removed both labels from the CPU fan. On one side under the label is just smooth black plastic. On the other side there is a molded plastic center disc with 4 small plastic arms radiating out to the case . Where is this lock you are talking about? I can see the windings but I don't see anything like a lock. Thank you for answering anyway."

What kind of cpu cooling fan can I use in a Acer America ASE380-UD420A desktop computer?

Cooling fan to CPU are come along with the CPU. You can use any other fan, having speed regulator pin, ie, the connector wire to it will have three conductors. Keep a close look at the size and seating screws to its body to the heat-sink of the CPU.

The CPU fan. This is normal. Use canned air to blow dust out if it has become louder than usual.

My pc turns itself off as soon as I switch it on, the fan seems to make a loud noise, if I leave it for a while, then switch it back on, it does a disk check but eventually turns itself off again. Could it...

Hi
Which fan. If it's the power supply fan then the power supply needs to be replaced. It could be damaged due to a heat related issue. Most likely it's the CPU fan that is going bad. Once the fan stops then the CPU heat goes up dramatically, the CPU then shuts down because of the high heat. CPU may be damaged also. Get this machine to to a reputable repair person as soon as possible.

Mother Board Fan Making too Much Noise

There are 2 main reasons for the CPU fan to run noisily. One is that there is film of dust accumalated on the cooling fins thus not allowing air to circulate and cool the CPU properly. The second is that perhaps the fan needs to be oiled because the sleeve bearing has gone dry.The most common problem for a noisy CPU fan is accumalation of dust. You will have to remove the fan and clean it thoroughly with a soft brush.
