SOURCE: High speed spa pump shuts off

The motor may have a thermal cutoff if the motor draws too much current. Do you have a sufficient large gauge circuit supplying the motore? If not the actual voltage at the motor may drop, causing it to draw more current to make up for the loss of voltage, thereby tripping the motor's protective breaker. I assume the motor will start again after serveral minutes of cooling down.

I live in NC and have chosen NOT to close my ingroud pool. I leave my variable speed pump running continuously at a low speed. I'm worried about extended cold weather below freezing. Will incr

Even at low speed these pump move allot of water, I would feel better with the pump running on high. but most variable speed motors only run on high for a few hours and return to low speed. If you cant force the motor to run on high continuously, IF YOU can't run it on high= The wind chill is the concern, might I suggest covering the plumbing portion with a tarp, just do not cover the motor it needs air to cool the motor.
A $10 hot water heater blanket Google Search might work on your filter, and some plumbing insulation tape Google Search OR if it gets real cold you could build a temporary pump house out of say 2'' PVC and with 8 or more Concrete Blocks and some tie down straps to secure it down and cover the whole works with a tarp using some of the blocks to hold the tarp in place, this way the heat from the motor will keep it nice and warm inside your temporary pump shed, but this is only if you can't run the motor on HIGH continuously, low speed worries me with possible - minus 40 Degree temps.
also turn the pools jets up to keep the pools water from freezing up and turning into a skating rink.
IF you have a pump that only runs on high for a few hours you will need to set your alarm clock and get up and reset the pump to run on high again, just to be safe.
The pump creates heat by act of pumping water, so you have that on your side. ..keep us informed on your results as these variable speed pumps are fairly new to the market.
thanks .. Jay

There is ice forming on the evaporator coils. This is either from a low freon charge or a leak in the seals or windows and doors. Could also be that the drains are not working and water is building up and freezing

Ac fan will not run on high setting , manual or auto . when unit calls for high setting fan shuts down . Compressor continues to run and trips breaker in trailer . Someone thinks it may be the motor, but...

Most probably its weak motor. When the motor gets weak it trips/ stops on high setting. On high setting motor needs more power to run the fan.Try lubricate the motor .You may need a few drops of oil on the fan motor bearings. As they get older they get dry and gunked up. If you can see the bearings a few drops of oil may help. --------- Because the fan operates on medium and high, so loose wire or faulty fan switch is very rare to cause this problem.-------- As per the problem , it requires motor to be replaced.--------- This will help.Thanks.Helpmech.

I have a gulf stream pool heat pump. It tries to start and runs for a few seconds then shuts down. it will do this like 3 times then stops. will repeat about every 10 minutes. was working find 2 days...

Hi, sounds as though you may have several problems, or I should say there are several things that will cause a unit to short cycle and then shut down. First of all, the head pressure in the system if it is getting to high, will cause this unit to shut off on its high pressure switch. When it shuts off the pressure will drop and the switch will reset on auto and start again just to do the same again. Shut the power off to this unit. Take a water hose and give the coil that surrounds the condenser a good washing out. Be careful not to bend the fins down on it as this will prevent air from being released to the outside air. Use a nozzle and adjust it as needed. If the problem was a head pressure problem, this will stop it from short cycling. If I were on site with my manifold gauges, I would no right away if it was a head pressure problem. After doing this, if it starts to do the same thing again, being low on freon will also cause a system to short cycle. If it was fine 2 days ago, I doubt if it is low on charge. Make sure the outdoor fan is up and running as this will cause it to go off on high pressure cut-out. This does sound like your problem. What happens is the coil gets dirty over time and the air can't be removed properly. The compressor will start and the pressures will rise very fast and shut of with in a few seconds. After a few attempts to run, the compressor will lock out on internal overload until it cools off and resets its self. It may take 5 to 30 minutes for it to start and try again. Do the cleaning process I have asked not getting water directly into the electrical control panel, but give this coil a good washing. If this system has a return air filter somewhere, make sure it is clean. Do this and get back to me and let me no if this solved or helped at all. If not, we can go from there. Just look me up with my user name. I do believe its just a plugged condenser coil. The symptoms are as you describe to me. Please get back to me.
I hope the best to you,

Motor starts but does then turns off . does not prime.

This could be a number of problems. First, if you are comfortable working with high voltage and have a multimeter, make sure that there is adequate line voltage to run the motor. If it is running on 220 volts, make sure that it's actually running on 220 and that both legs of 110volts are there and you have a combined voltage of 220vac supplied to the motor. Also shut the breakers off and check to make sure the connections at the motor are tight. Second, you may have a bad run capacitor. Visually inspect the capacitors to make sure they are not bloated or leaking taking every precaution to not touch the contacts, capacitors store a high voltage charge. Its also possible that the motor windings have developed a short and will cause you problems. The motor has an internal high limit that will shut it down if it overheats, the above problems can cause a motor to overheat and shut down within a few seconds.

Kenmore AC Model 25370156000 keeps shutting off and on by itself

If you have just installed this unit in your window for the season, you may want to wait a day or so, for everything in the unit to settle, and try again. You make have shaken it up a bit too much. If not.....sounds to me like it is kicking out on high head pressure. This happens when refrigerant gets too low, or there is air in the refrigerant system. There is nothing you can do to solve this problem, except take it to a repair shop. If I am correct what happens is you turn the unit on, and the fan and compressor start simultaneously, then after a few seconds (maybe up to a minute) the compressor kicks off, and the air gets warm, then the compressor kicks on for a few seconds, and we repeat. This is actually a safety mechanism for the compressor motor so it does not run without refrigerant. (That would destroy the pump.)

Mixer motor shut down

Mine did almost the exact same thing one day. I have the Artisian Model, It would do it on any of the lowest speeds. Dont know if this will help you or not but I just ran mine the next day on all the way high with the spash guard on for making whipped cream for about 6 minutes full throttle and for some reason it hasnt went slow and shut itself off since then. Mine is about 7 months old. I called Kitchen Aid but their customer service all of a sudden seems to not know english worth a poo...

Try running yours on full blast for 5 minutes with something simple in the bowl. If its a 250 watt or higher make whipped water out of 2 cups of water and a tablespoon of cornstarch. Run it till you get what looks like whipped cream. Oh yea. Use the Balloon whip. The lubrication in the motor is supposed to last for at least 5 years but I have seen on numerous post's that if you run them on all the way for at least 5 minutes the oil will even out in the motor. Running the mixers at low speed alot will cause the oil inside not to move as freely since the motor doesnt heat up the oil in the gears.

Good luck.
