Dual XD7600 Head Unit Problems

I have a Dual XD7600 Head unit. I've had it for less than a year. My problem is when I press to open the face plate. The motorized face just opens and closes and opens and closes nonstop. I have to hold the face closed and press the open button again to keep it closed. I can put cds in and pull them out just fine. I just can't open the face plate to see the Display. Any suggestions? Thanks, Henry

Re: Dual XD7600 Head Unit Problems

Sounds like the flexible connector that connects to the drop-down front panel is bad, broken pattern lead.

This is what the manual says:
With the unit off, press OPEN to allow the front panel to slide
down. Gently squeeze the release tab located on the bottom
center underside and pull faceplate down and away from unit
to remove. To install, insert left side faceplate first, then push
right side to secure.

Tried it and couldn't get it out.

The face won't open

Can you pull the face out? If there is no sound at all coming from the head unit (besides the beep) there's a good chance the gear motor that controls the movement of the face is stuck or burnt. Now if there's a clicking sound, the gears may skipping which can be wear'n tear or misaligned gears. I wouldn't call you player done for though. I would take it out, inspect the motorized face machanism and post what you see.
