I have the same problem - I gave up on the voice command feature which was the main reason I bought the AVIC 140. I called Pioneer and they tried to help but the technician said I had to speak very clearly. Multiple people tried the voice commands with the car parked and off and it still couldn't recognize a single command. My microphone works perfectly so I know it isn't that. I give the overall rating on this device a 2 out of 5. I could go on for pages about the unfriendly user interface.
Go to Garmin's Web Updater webpage and download and install the program. Follow the directions to update the firmware and voices. TTS types are "Text To Speech" and will read and speak street names, like "Turn right to Elm Street, etc. Those that lack TTS are standard voices - they will only say "Turn right in 100 feet" in the same place on the road.
Go though the device menu settings and make sure that you have a voice selected "Jack US English" or "Jill US English" are the typical TTS voices chosen for US English speaking drivers.
The TS55 is a DVC subwoofer that can be wired for either 4 ohms (voice coils in series) or 1 ohm (voice coils in parallel). The appropriate wiring depends on the amp.
If the amp is stable at 1 ohm, wire both positives and both negatives to the matching amp output terminal (parallel) as shown in Wiring Option #1.
If the amp isn't stable at 1 ohm, connect a jumper between the positive on one voice coil and the negative on the other voice coil. Then connect the remaining positive and negative to the matching amp output terminal (series) as shown in Wiring Option #2.
Do you have a Webcam and Speakers properly installed, or do you have a Headset with Microphone? With either you should go to the audio setup wizard to make sure that whatever you're using to speak and hear with are configured properly. To do this, go to the main Yahoo window, then click on Help, then go to "Set up Video and Voice." (this is what it's called in version 10, but I believe in earlier versions it's called something along the lines of Audio Wizard or something along those lines, but it was under Help, too). Without something to speak and hear with, you won't be able to make a voice call. Hope this helps.
All of the Garmin automotive GPS units that speak street names are also
loaded with basic voice prompts. If one of these types of voice prompts
has been selected, the voice prompts will not speak street names.
In order to change this setting on the StreetPilot c550/580, please follow these steps:
In the Main Menu, tap on the Settings icon.
Tap on "Locale"
The second line on this screen has a picture of a mouth. To the right,
the current voice for the GPS device is listed. Tap it to change the
voice.
Select a voice that is labeled with (TTS) at the end. These voices will speak street names.
Select Option... #3.. then it will ask for you to speak the name. It does not tag each contact it actually reads the typed text and matches it to you voice. Also the bluetooth will automatically select this option to vioce dial.
