SOURCE: Homelite strin trimmer head wont rotate

The only way to access the bottom of the metal shaft is to break it. This is fused on at the factory. It sounds like your flexshaft has twisted in two. Remove the flex shaft from the engine end and see if it is in one whole piece or is damaged in someway. If it rotates at the top but doesn't rotate at the string head this is probably the problem. However, Homelite no longer offers just the flex shaft for purchase. You would probably have to purchase the shaft and the tube as a unit.
But if you are saying the spool and string is not turning at the bottom it could be that the cup which holds the string has worn and can not longer be turned by the shaft. Replace the cup that holds the string.
Another possibility is that the shaft have moved forward, away from the engine and just need to be jammed back in, and retightened (the handle grip and the boom clamp).

SOURCE: i have a homelite f2020 series petrol trimmer i

I use 50:1 with Sthil 2-stroke oil in ALL my 2-stroke equipment. This ratio does not smoke at all, and does not foul plugs.

Never had a problem yet. At this mix ratio, you can also use it in 4-stroke engines, which means you only need 1 fuel can on site. Also eliminates the possibility of using the wrong can to fill the trimmer.

I have a homelite Z830sb that won't stay running. It starts and the shaft and spool rotate, then it appears that the shaft siezes, the spool stops turnng and the engine dies. This all happens in a 2-4...

sounds like your shaft is probably wound up,twisted, this happens sometimes, they get frayed, they are a flexible shaft kinda like a speedometer cable., take the screws out that will remove the housing from the motor should be 4 screws and the eng will slide off the tube and then you can see your flex shaft, then take pliers and pull it out and my guess is that you will find it twisted and frayed so that it winds up catches and springs back, GoodLuck

I purchased a model f2020 weed eater from bunnings naenae the line cartridge broke up and i went to get a replacement from bunnings they don't stock homelite parts but ordered one for me i have been...

You can order the part from www.homelite.com You will need your model number to help you select the right part. You will need to click on the order parts text in the upper right hand part of the screen. This will take you to another page which will ask you to go to the homelite parts catalog. After you click on the parts catalog link, it will ask you to agree to the terms of use for the website. READ THIS CAREFULLY.
After you have agreed to the terms of use it will take you to another page. From here you can input the model number of your unit. Input the f2020 into the search box and click on search. It will ask you which version of the model you have. On the right side of the screen it will have a parts breakdown. You should select (Shaft-Spool and String- Grass Deflector). This will pop up a diagram with a parts breakdown which will include part numbers to help make ordering the correct part easier. I believe the part that you wish to order is part number 17 of the diagram. When you click on the part number in the diagram it will select it below the diagram and will flash for a second. At this point it has an option to add this part to your shopping cart.
I hope this helps get you back in business.

The liquid leaks from the shaft of the bread pan. Upon further investigation, the shaft drops down slightly from it's original position as I can push it back up but it won't stay up. What can I do to fix...

Hi...The paddle shaft fits tightly on a sealed bearing. This allows the shaft to spin freely. Over time the sealed bearing wears out, the shaft gets loose and liquid will leak through. Unfortunately there is no fix for this and a new bread pan is needed. sorry...Hank

What do i lubricate the flexible cable, inside the shaft of the line trimmer, with ?

I use a black molybdenum disulfide grease to lubricate the flex shafts. I remove the shaft, wipe off all of the old grease, apply a new coat of grease, and reverse the direction of the shaft when re-installing (top becomes bottom, bottom becomes top) to more evenly distribute the wear on the flex shaft.

So, is this trimmer suppose to feed the string automatically? If not, then it sounds like the string is wound up on the spool the wrong direction.
