Question about Washing Machines

Open Question

Thomson machine fault of d02 shows after the machine is on for a while, we have checked all the pumps and filters all good, when I select another programme it runs for 10-15 mins and d02 shows again. Do not know which machine as we got it with our boat, it is a top loader and all it says on the top is Class A 1 @ 5kg. The fault book we have is in French and even after translating it just tells us to check filter. Please can you help!!! email netty_1955@yahoo.co.uk

Can you hear the drain pump running??....If so the WPS system has been activated and there is water in the base.
If not, please post back if any water is going into the main wash compartment once it's started. No water, then faulty inlet valve.

SOURCE: Zanussi ZWF1437W washing machine - wont start

The error message "Err" usually indicates that the wash program and option are not compatible. 40 degrees and 900 rpm Spin should be o.k.. I would try another wash program with no special options and see if the problem goes away.

SOURCE: Blocked filter in Fisher & Paykel washing machine top loader

Fisher & Paykel washers do not have lint filters inside the tubs as they are designed to drain away any debris from the wash during the drain cycle.

What is the meaning of D02 in Samsung watching machine

D02 Error may have following Causes:
1-drain hose kinked or plugged
2- drain pump failure
3- accumulation of debris in filters and causing the floater positioner got stuck
if there is the flow of water through the drain hose it may that the floater inside the bath got stuck, if this is the case, remove the filters, unfasten the bolts and remove the inside cap until you can see the floater.
clean debris from inside surface of the washing machine and also clean the floater.

Oe fault on nec washing machine. When machine goes into its draining mode it makes a humming noise for about 5 minutes then shows the fault. Could this be a fault with the pump is there any way to test the...

Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,

Yes- it could be a blocked pump and filter and yes- if you action the (pre-typed!) following you should be able to check and test the operation of the pump ;-0)

I would gently suggest as a first step that you clean the drain motor/pump lint tray/filter. So many 'faults' are caused by blocked filters and many machines will not even go to rinse or spin or release the door lock if there is any water still left inside.

Following are my complete and hopefully 'coverall' pre-typed guidance notes for checking both the drain motor filter and the drain motor ;-0)

REMOVE POWER AND ENSURE YOU HAVE A WATER RECEPTACLE/RAGS TO SOAK UP THE WATER WHICH IS BOUND TO POUR OUT (alternatively use a wet vac as sensibly suggested by VinnyB1234!)
If you are unsure where the filter is, it is often behind the front lower (kick) panel (or in some machines at the rear in an awkward position!). These panels are either held on by (plasic) screws or will just pull off. Most filters are held in by a round cover/knob. Sometimes the filter will not come out with the cover and you will have to persuade it to come out to play.
It's surprising what people have found in theirs! It is always worthwhile checking it on a regular basis.
Now- whilst the filter is removed it is normally possible to see the drain motor and ensure it is not jammed by a foreign object such as a needle or a toothpick. It should be able to be turned by hand/finger- the power IS OFF!
At this point it is also possible to test if the motor works. No clothes or water in the machine, select a spin cycle and put the power back on. You should be able to see the motor turning at some point, possibly straight away. Using something suitable like a glove see if it is easy to briefly slow the motor down. If it is easy then the motor is malfunctioning.

If this has assisted you please consider a 4 thumbs up for the rating.
Thanks and good luck!

Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,
Absolutely no promises as I do not have the list for your washer BUT try this!

Hoover nextra washer was showing fault code 3. on inspection i found a ten pence piece in the in hard plastic pipe of the pump. removed blockage and set it to cycle. machine was showing fault code 1. i...

Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,
Hoover Nextra fault code 1 actually decodes as 'door interlock/door switch' (???!!)
Fault code 2 states' fill time-out or solenoid valve etc'
If you have checked that the hot and cold water taps are turned on fully and the hoses are not kinked or squashed at the back, it is worth while checking both the hot and cold water inlet filters. Turn the taps off and remove both hoses at the washer end. Inside each inlet port there is normally a little filter which should just slide out. Clean if necessary and replace each one and the hoses. If after turning the taps back on there is no improvement, the problem is symptomatic of a malfunctioning hot or cold water control valve. Sorry but it needs a service call ;-0(
If this has assisted you please consider a 4 thumbs up for the rating.
Thanks and good luck,

E20 showing on display, machine still got water in

Hello,

E20 is related to the pump and as you say a strange noise is there I would check the filter for foreign objects.E90 is normally a communication problem between the main programmer and the display module. There may have been a fault in the pump which has caused a fault at the Programmer. That model was first produced in 2002 but it is worth checking pump and filter first. If you find anything in filter then clean it out and give it another go the E90 error may have been a glich.Best of luck.
