Question about Utilitech 0.5-HP Stainless Steel Waterfall Pump PPWF33
I have purchase 3 of the PPWF33 1/2 HP waterfall pumps from lowes. The first two lasted less than a month and I took them back to lowes. Spoke to your customer service people at that time and we decided I should insure that I was using a large diameter hose from the pump to the water fall (lift abour 3 feet) to insure no strain on the pump. As a result the 3rd pump has laste about a year with no problem. Then recently it too froze. This time I opened the pump expecting to find a bad bearing but actually found that there were too problems - the impeller had shattered (slthough there was no debris that seemed to be the cause) and, water had seeped into the motor itself and had corroded the rotating mechanism. I can clean it and re-seal the pump but I will need to purchase the lower shaft bearing and impeller. Where can I do this - or is there another solution? Richard Geck 732-644-4339

Good you got it working. Please post again if you have more trouble on this or another item. Also be sure and check what I mentioned just in case you are operating at the margins, don't want a failure right after you got it going!

SOURCE: I have a utilitech convertable pump. It is used as a shallow well pump at the moment. It worked fine untill last week, the hot water tank went bad and we replaced the tank and all the above ground li
Your problem is that your "water bound"...
Your water tank must have a cushion of air for the pressure switch to work properly.
Turn off your pump and drain about 1/3 of the water from your tank.
Once you have an "air cushion" the pump and switch will work properly.
You can also add air pressure using an air compressor and an air valve installed on the top of your water tank or maybe on the side or bottom of the tank.
You would put air into the tank until about 1/3 of the water is gone replaced with the air.
Once that is complete your problem will be solved.

Install a foot valve (check valve) at the end of the suction line so that you don't have to prime it again. Install a level controller so that it will automatically switch on and off according to your predetermined high and low water levels.
