Question about Samsung Digimax S630 Digital Camera

1 Answer

Lost AutoFocus My camera is new, bought 2 days ago, and yesterday I was changing the modes wheel (on top). Then I noticed it couldn't set focus at all, anymore! Should this be a problem with the camera, or can fix it by changing some configuration? At Scene mode, appears a [CAF] icon at left botton of the LCD screen (not documented in manual).

Set focus - it is autofocus is it not? Take a few pictures and check whether they are sharp or not Also make sure your finger is away from the sensor window when holding the camera

HOW DO I SET MY CAMERA TO AUTO FOCUS

The D90 has three different autofocus modes. In the AF-S mode it will not shoot until it has focused. In the AF-C mode it will shoot when you press the shutter release button even if has not focused. In the AF-A mode the camera switches between the AF-S and AF-C modes so either can apply. Also, bear in mind that the camera doesn't really know what you're taking a picture of. It may focus on something other than your subject. If you're in the single-area AF mode then you control which of the eleven focus points the camera uses. In any of the dynamic-area AF modes the camera decides. For full details on how the various modes work, please consult your manual. You might also check out the Nikon D90 video tutorial.

If the gears are stripped, it will require an experienced tech to repair.

That being said, there should be a small switch near the lens mount to switch between auto and manual focus mode's, be sure that that switch is pointing to A. When set to M, the little screw recesses into the mount so it doesn't try to engage, when set to A, it'll extend very slightly.

Also, Nikon has manufactured two types of AF lenses - with the motor in the body and with the motor in the lens, as with most newer lenses. Your camera should have a small screw on the lens mount that drives the focus motor between the lens and the camera, but I'm not 100% certain on that. Your camera can focus lenses with and without this type of coupling. BUT, if that screw/motor in the body is not functioning, you'll only be able to use lenses which contain the focus motor inside them, or manual focus lenses (you can manually focus AF lenses too).

In auto focus mode the lese seems to "hunt" and won't focus

When this happens with my D70s, I know of two options. 1) use manual focus or 2) autofocus on another object about the same distance away from my subject (holding the shutter release half way) and then move the camera back to my subject composition. This seems to happen when there is little contrast in the scene, i.e., a field of same colored flowers. Hope this helps.

Hello,

I don't own a K10D, but I do own a K100D which I have successfully used both manual focus & auto-focus lenses from my old Pentax stash!

1) If it is a manual focus lens, you need to turn off Autofocus on the body of your K10D. On my K100D, there is a switch on the side of the lens mount that says [-MF or -AF]. "-MF" is manual focus mode & "-AF" is autofocus mode. Since your lens doesn't have autofocus capability, turn it to the "-MF" mode.

Also . . . When I press "Menu" and go to "Custom Setting", I change two settings . . .

1) I change "Using aperture ring" to "Permitted". This allows you to use manual lenses (M lenses) that do not have an auto(exposure) setting, and also lets you use Auto lenses (A, KA, KA2, FA, etc.) in either the Auto or manual aperture setting modes.

2) I change "Fl with S lens used" so that even with a manual focus lens, although I don't have autofocus capability, my K100D beeps and shows a little red square in the viewfinder when I have successfully focused manually!

The K10D should have the same options.

This should get you up and running!

I have had a load of fun with my old lens on my new digital Pentax!

Take care & Happy Imaging!
Glen

Canon 450d Auto focus has stopped working in Live view mode

Check if the customer function III was not disabled by accident - set it to 2 (live mode) for best results. Also, autofocus in liveview mode is activated by the * (star) button (upper right corner of the back of the camera body), not the shutter release button.

I had this problem awhile ago - you must have accidently adjusted the focal area - it is sooooo easy to do without realising it. Here is what I was told:
**************************

Most likely, you have changed the AF point, which only takes effect in the creative modes (Manual, Av, Tv, P, etc)

There should be a button on your camera that has a grid like pattern above it, like
-
- - - - -
-

or so. press that, look through the viewfinder, and move the shutter or rear wheel, you should see the different AF points like up in red, and as you turn different ones will light up, and eventually all of them. also, you can look on the screen on top (or back, if its a rebel) and it will show you which ones are selected while in that mode, instead of looking through the viewfinder.

Auto-focus isn't working

Try checking your settings for the type of shot you are taking and for the type of focus......
type of shot is the dial on the top, and then:
1) menu, metering
and also check your autofocus mode
2)menu, autofocus; try the single autofocus, it might be set to continual

Also, you could try updating the firmware in your camera. You do this through the Nikon website.
