What is your ISP and what type? Dial-Up or broadband?Once you have the WiFlyer plugged in, you will probably want to change some of the router settings before using it. This is easily done through the browser-based interface. Simply plug the router in, and connect to it with your PC, Mac, PDA, PSP, or any other device with Ethernet/WiFi and a browser, and launch your browser of choice. You should be automatically redirected to the router configuration page. If not, you can simply enterhttp://192.168.7.77 into the URL bar in your browser to go to the main page of the router. From the configuration page, you can change settings such as the SSID of your router (the default is WiFlyer), add WEP encryption for security, put a password on the router so even if someone connects they need a password to change settings, and above all, configure your Internet connection. If you are planning to utilize Ethernet for your Internet connection, there are very little to no options you will need to change. If the Internet connection you are connecting to supports DHCP (automatically obtaining network information such as IP Address, etc.), connecting will be as simple as plugging the WiFlyer in. Most networks have DHCP. However, if the network does not support DHCP, you will not get Internet access from just plugging the WiFlyer in. You will need to know information such as the IP Address you have been assigned and other information, and then input that information into the configuration. Chances are, if you don't have this information, you are not authorized to use the network. However, if you are simply plugging the WiFlyer directly into your Internet connection, and it does not use DHCP, you can obtain all the information you need to know from your ISP. Generally, if you can hook up a computer to the connection and it will automatically work, the connection supports DHCP. Now, if you happen to have DSL which requires you to use a username and password to connect through the modem your ISP provided (Usually DSL), the WiFlyer supports it using the PPPoE protocol. Now, if you need to use Dial-Up for your Internet connection, simply go to the configuration page, and click the "Switch to Dialup" button in the upper right corner of the screen, and make sure to have all your connection information ready to enter. Once you make the switch to the Dial-Up configuration page, there are two ways to enter in your ISP information. The first and simplest way is to select from the preloaded ISPs, and select your location. The ISPs that are preloaded include AOL, EarthLink, MSN, NetZero, and Juno. If your ISP is not listed, all you need to do is enter in the phone number to use. You can add the information to the phonebook to save for use later as well. Either way, you will also need to enter in your username and password to continue. Once this information is entered, you can connect by either clicking "Dial Now!" or pushing the button with a lightning bolt on it on the front of the router. The web-based interface gives some information about the connection, and the button on the front is useful for just plugging the WiFlyer in and starting the connection.

Wireless Zero Configuration was first introduced with Windows XP. In Windows Vista it was renamed to "WLAN AutoConfig".
Wireless Zero Configuration (WZC) or WLAN AutoConfig is a service included with modern versions of Microsoft Windows that dynamically selects a wireless network to connect to base on a user's preferences and various settings. This can be used instead (or in the absence) of a wireless network utility from the manufacturer of a computer's wireless networking device.
To join a wireless network:

  1. Open the Start menu and click Control Panel.
  2. In the Control Panel Home window, click View network status and tasks.
If you are using Classic View, double- click Network and Sharing Center
Click Connect to a network.
Select your network from the list and click Connect.
If security is enabled on the network, you will be asked to type your network security key or passphrase for your AP/router. After typing security key, click Connect.
and keep follows the prompt.

SOURCE: i cannot connect to the

Please use this tip as check list if any of the mandatory settings is not clear let me know.
Check if you see the network name in your PC. (if you do not see it SSID is not broadcast OR your wireless adapter on Acer is not on same standard (801.11 a / b /g/ n) as your router (Model???).
If you see WLAN, is it secured? (= you need network key ) Please check the security standard of WLAN (WEP, WPA, AES, TKIP) and use accordinly.
If you cannot connec check if an access list is on router and insert your new PC (or disable it)

SOURCE: my question is

See there are some old settings saved on your computer for the same wireless network name.
I believe the operating system on your computer is windows VISTA / 7 .
Now you will need to remove the network from the preferred network list. then add the new network on your computer and you will be able to connect to the network. Make sure that you have all the wireless settings of your network. If you are not sure about the wireless settings of your network then you will need to check the wireless settings of the network.

Slow browsing problem

Let me guess. You just tried to download the latest online video game and it is nearly taking you 3 hours when the download time itself says 40 minutes. Well, don't worry - there are many ways to speed up Internet or fix slow browsing problems. You can speed up your Internet by even half if you just make a few minor adjustments in your Browser options. There are multiple reasons for this happening such as Uncle Larry using the computer or other neighbors sharing your connection as well. To speed up Internet connection, you could try upgrading your modem or even adjusting your Internet settings too.
1.To get faster Internet, I would strongly look to your Internet service provider so you can upgrade. The best modem is 56.6 kb for recommendation. You always want to make sure you have the best quality you can from your Internet Service provider.
2.Make sure your connection isn't shared. By this, I mean setting a password protection on your connection. This way people from outside the area won't be able to tap into your Internet and pull directly from you. Some people are not aware of this, so it's always a good idea to look into the situation before you think something is wrong with your browsing speed.
3.If you want to fix slow browsing problems, try changing the telephone modem with DSL, ISDN, or satellite. With these, you will speed up Internet without any problem.
4.Try resizing your Internet cache to get faster Internet. Do this by clicking "tools" under "Internet Options". Go to the "General" tab and look for your browsing history. Click on "Settings". There should be something that says "Disk space storage". It's best to change it to 50 MB or less in order to speed up Internet connection.
I hope you find it very helpful. Thanks.

Have you installed any software firewalls lately, I know Norton has a habit of randomly blocking the internet.

Try disabling any firewall you may have and try again, if the internet surfing problem persists, try plugging in a wired connection and seeing if you can surf from there.

Try reloading the ethernet drivers from the device manager. Uninstall the drivers then reboot. It will find the hardware and reinstall the drivers. Then update the drivers from HP's support site. If you still have the issues, then it may be a faulty port. Take it in and have it checked out.
