Question about Kwikset 909 909-15 Satin Nickel Smart Code SmartCode Signature Series Touch

Open Question

The motor is burnt out, I've pulled it form the unit but where can I get a replacement? (kwikset have been less than helpful, I'm sure because they just want me to buy another lock)

The motor appears to be fried, looks like the poor thing had a tortured existence because of a badly milled door jamb, this is the second unit the customer has gone through, but the first chance I've had to look at the problem. Dismantled the unit and got the motor out but this is not something carried by RadioShack, where and how can I get a replacement, gave up trying to deal with Kwikset.

SOURCE: kwikset powerbolt 1000 keyless entry deadbolt lock with keypad

Make sure that the bolt hole on the jamb side is recessed enough so the bolt gets a full extension. Without this externsion the bolt will not engage the key release. So when you do your quarter turn you are actually turning more. Remove the strike plate and drill the hole deeper until the bolt can extend all the way. Also double check your key to make sure it is not spurred or worn.

spray a little bit of oil where you insert the key turn it a couple of time to make sure it is lubricated then turn to correct location to pull out key hold cylinder in with finger key should pull out

Unfortunatley you need to have the key to remove the cylinder. You can take it to a locksmith that can pick" it to remove the cylinder and make you a key but it may be more cost effective to replace it.

Disassemble the dryer and check the blower wheel to make sure it isn't bound up with a sock, or something. If not, check the motor mounts to make sure the motor is securely in place. Finally, check the motor.

It might not be the motor. It could be the electronic circuit that powers the motor. I ran into the same problem with a Kwikset electronic deadbolt. I separated the motor from the electronic circuit board and found that the motor was OK. When I couldn't get replacement parts I bought a Master Lock unit. It's not motorized and uses 4 AAA batteries, which last a long time. Kwikset just wants to sell locks, but the same problem exists with Schlage and other brands - including Master Lock. One year warranty on electronics.

My sanitop is not working. i've changed the fuse but no joy. can the motor be burnt as it may have been on for a while since my son left the tap running


If anything goes wrong with the unit it usually happens in the pressure chamber, the motors are very durable, any part in there can be replaced. Im thinking the capacitor might have seized up and will probably need to be replaced.

Re-assemble a kwikset front door lever and knob type latch


Since the exterior side of the lock only has a keypad and no lever, I'm not sure what you mean by the "outside lever". Here is a clear, easy to follow video of the installation. Please carefully review each aspect of your installation against it to see if you can spot an installation mistake:

Replaced batteries, now I am getting 3 sets of 2 loud beeps everytime I unlock the door with either code. Also the green light is continuously blinking.

will tell you that you will get a series of quick beeps when the batteries are installed correctly and making good contact.Conversely, the low battery indicator light on the power board will be lit when the batteries need replacement. Kwikset recommends that you use four quality alkaline AA batteries.
Also, Kwikset recommends that if your Powerbolt is beeping, that you take out the batteries and remove the powerstrip. Let it sit for one minute, then put the batteries back in and wait for another minute. If it does not beep, as in above for battery replacement, then the keypad needs to be replaced. If the unit beeps, then the powerboard needs to be replaced.
Is it at all possible that, when you replaced the batteries, you did not get the orientation correct for one or more of the batteries? Did you use new, brand-name alkaline batteries?
So, I've taken you through the steps that a Customer Service Rep is going to ask you before you make a call. If the problem still persists, then it's time to make that call. The number is 800 327-5625, Mon.-Sat. between 7:30-4:00. Pacific coast time. They should be able to assist you further with troubleshooting and parts.

Hi

F11 is a motor control unit error which means that the motor control unit has repeating under or over voltage or over current conditions due to internal failure. You can check the wire harness connections between the motor and the MCU (motor control unit) and also between the central control unit & MCU. If the motor is working then replace the motor control unit. Hope this helps...please post back for further assistance.

My kwikset , smartcode lock will work for 1 or 2 times then it starts to flash and has to be reset ???
