I recently upgraded my DSL home AT&T page to their latest version. Now my desktop PC runs very slow when opening to that site. The AT&T page on my laptop looks different.
It has been slow for a couple of years when opening any of the MS Office products.
I have recently deleted all temp files and cookies, but no improvement.
It’s Operating System is Windows XP.
This PC is hardwired to the Internet through my Linksys router and AT&T’s Westell modem that connects wireless to a HP laptop.
Access to the Internet is via Internet Explorer v. 7 to AT&T home page.
AVAST (free) what I use for antivirus.
I am the only user account for Administrator for each PC.
Each PC is used for home only use incl/ Taxes, spreadsheets, letters, internet surfing.
Hardware attached to the desktop include HP officejet 6100 series and Kodak Printer dock series 3.
I do not use a Cafe Manager program.
I do not have a dedicated server.
AVAST is the only protection I use.
Outlook Express is used for mail, but is not always on.

- Dear Jayedinger,
Thank you for your prompt reply!! I did mean 512MB. My owners manual says I can only increase ram to 1GB total. I did so a couple of weeks ago by adding 512MB (PNY) to the only other empty memory slot. It did improve the speed ...slightly. I don't think I can increase its memory anymore. Any other ideas would be gratly appreciated.

You said you have 512K of RAM; I assume you mean 512MB. Either way, you are in dire need of a RAM upgrade. The sweet spot for XP memory-wise was 2gigs. The working minimum is 512MB, but the recommended spec is at least 1. If you upgraded to at least 2 gigs of ram, you'll see a speed improvement. If you need help finding out what type of memory to get, let me know.

How can we improve the graphics quality with our SAMSUNG P2370 LCD Monitor for use with Photoshop design projects? The moniiiitor works well for movies, though we find the horizontal too narrow.
We are already well aware of the Picuture and Colour options offered for adjustment through the SAMSUNG p2370 Monitor itself but none ofthese seem to improve on what is a blurred text, especially when we switch from movies to internet or text editing.
Should we purchase a a graphics card, provided our Gateway(Model No. GT5056) will support such a card?
Or, are there better options within available LCD monitors on the market under $300.00?
Thanks!
