How is the battery on it. I had a car that sounded like and thought it was the starter at first. Turned out the battery cells were bad.

Why does starter keep cutting back out?

Need more info, sounds? Smells? not doing anything? year make and model may help?

so far with the info I have I can't assist very well.

if the starter is clicking instead of starting it could be low voltage (bad battery) poor connections (loose wires) soleniod going bad.

if the starter sounds like its free spinning and not engaging the engine that probably means the bendex is shot, (starter needs replaced)

If the starter has an intermitten fault (sometimes starts sometimes clicks of does nothing) I would lean towards the soleniod is going bad.

Willnot turn over.battery good and at 100%.fuel pump kicks on and relays by fuse panel click when trying to stat

The click you hear is the starter soleniod. My guess is that either the starter is bad, or the soleniod is bad. Try jump starting the car for the heck of it. If it ends up being one of the other 2 things, make sure the person tests BOTH the starter, and soleniod. A starter is a LOT more money, and lots of times they'll make you buy a starter, even though its just the soleniod!

How to replace starter

read the FSM or? (all cars)
1: disconnect the neg battery terminal lug, first. (or BOOM ! eat acid)
2: remove the wires at the starter soleniod.
3: remove the mounting bolts (to bell)
4: hit it with rubber mallet,
5: it falls off.
(on some cars and big hands , stuff near by must be moved first)
RTM ,read the FSM , its all there.
or go to alldata.com and click engine, starter, replace....
or same at mitchels.

When i go to start my 2001 grand cherokee all i hear is a click comming from the starter, then sometimes it starts right up what can i do to fix it?

Your starter solenoid is going bad. You can either replace the soleniod on the starter or replace the entire starter assembly.

Will not start fuse ok battery ok they said try new starter, its ok turn key on hear click Sound sounds llik up at carberator, AMP gauge gos negetive and starter will not ingage, belt for mower is...

I would try to jump the starter. Pos cable on the starter then ground out the neg, it the starter turns over that isnt it. then check the smaller wire going to your soleniod, when you turn your key to the start position it should have power. then check to see if there is power from the battery to your soleniod then with the key turned power from the soleniod to the starter.

2001 rodeo won't start. the solenoid on the

the clicking is the start relay which u don't hear unless the starter doesn't work, u have a defective starter solenoid, the internal contacts are burned, this is a NipponDenso style starter and they all have this same problem, u can replace the starter, replace the starter solenoid or replace the copper contacts in side the solenoid for around $12.00 USD

96' Taurus will not turn over, battery and connections are ok

Starter soleniod may be bad check the connections at the starter to ensure that there are good connections if so replace the starter solenoid, then if that does not work replace the starter.

MOTOR OPERTAES WITHOUT KEY

your starter, solenoid or ignition is no good. but my first choice,i think your solenoid is shorted because when you hook up the battery,it cranks but does not start.that means your ignition switch is still working.
