First, remove ALL media, DVD, CD, USB, unplug, remove battery, leave battery out, plug in, try a reboot to safe mode, and use this procedure: http://www.netsquirrel.com/msconfig/msconfig_win7.html select Normal Startup, Apply, reboot. OR, Try a System Restore to a date before this issue.

SOURCE: notebook will not read restore cd

Hmm...try taking the hard drive away from ur laptop and use a ''hard drive caddy'' to connect it via usb to another pc.Then format it and try to recover again. It might also be a bios error wich i don't think you can replace on a laptop motherboard. Also try contacting toshiba for a replace or refund if in warranty.

It sound like your hard drive has crashed. There is no easy solution to your problem. Here are a couple solutions. You need to run a "chkdsk". It will scan and fix file problems on your HD. To do this you can either download a boot disk like "Ultimate boot disk" or you can take the HD out of your laptop and attach it to another computer. Neither of these are easy, for the boot disk you need to have software that can burn a "iso image" to a cd and to attach the HD to another computer you have to have the proper adapter. I would be happy to walk you through either one of these, just let me know. The easist thing to do would be to contact Acer and get recovery cds then go buy a new hard drive. I would take the old one to the store, to be sure I got the right replacement HD.

SOURCE: acer aspire password to restore to factory settings

well if its the boot password you have hope,ALT+F10 on start is supposed to get you to the recovery manager,if you cant get there restore factory default,if its the windows operating system password, you can try to type administrator in the user name and leave the password blank, sometimes your able to get in on the built in administrator acct.,if that doesnt work,,its not easy you can download password recovery programs and try that,if its the boot lock password you can take it apart and remove the bios battery on the mother board, remove main battery ,unplug power set something on the power button heavy enough to hold it down and wait, the longer the better, one day ,maybe two, reassemble and it should be back to factory default, if its under warranty send it to acer, nowif your able to get past the boot password and the windows password is still holding you up you can one-time boot to a windows disc and reinstall new copy, warning! you will loose everything on the computer, but at least you can use it agian hope this helps, aloha from maui todd0708

Hello,

Your computer's operating system just crashes down. What you can do is to do a start up repair. You need the operating system discs which came with your computer during the time when you bought it. It says windows 7 installation/operating system.

Here's what you need to do.

1. Insert the windows 7 operating system disc in the dvd drive.
2. Restart the computer. It will bring you to a page which will ask you to press any key. Just press any key to boot to the installation cd.
3. A blue screen will appear and it will bring you to the page which has the option to install or to repair. Select repair.
4. Then follow the on-screen instructions and finish the process until it restarts.
5. If it does not fix the problem, you have to do a complete/clean reinstallation.

I am providing you a full tutorial on how to do it. Click on the link below so that you will be directed to the link.

You can get another Recovery CD from the laptop manufacturer, otherwise you need a Windows installation CD that matches the Windows version of the Windows label that is attached to the bottom of your laptop. This label also has the product installation code for installing Windows on your laptop.

How to restore factory setting on gateway model mt6705

Step 1:
Restoring your Windows 7 Gateway computer to its original factory settings is a great way to get rid of pesky viruses you can't seem to remove from your computer, or simply to remove old programs and files from your computer and start with a clean slate. Your Windows 7 Gateway computer will likely run faster as a result of deleting old and unnecessary files. It's also a good idea to restore your Windows 7 Gateway computer to its original factory settings if you plan on selling it, or passing it along to a family member or friend.

Recover From Windows 7 Home Screen Click the "Start" icon in the lower-left corner of your Windows 7 home screen. Click "All Programs" in the Start menu, then click "Gateway". Click "Gateway Recovery Management" to open the Gateway Recovery Management program. Click the "Restore" header, then click "Restore System To Factory Default". Click "Yes" in the "Confirm Restoration" dialog box, then click "Yes". Click "OK" in the dialog box warning you that all of the personal data on your computer will be deleted. Your computer will automatically restart. When your computer restarts the restoration process will begin. The process could take anywhere between 30 and 90 minutes. Click "OK" when a dialog appears telling you that the computer has been restored to its original factory settings and that you need to reboot your Gateway Windows 7 computer. Your computer will reboot. After the computer restarts you will need to configure Windows 7 with your personal preferences. b> Recover at Startup Turn on or restart your computer and hold down "Alt" while clicking "F10" during startup until you are redirected to the Gateway Recovery Management program. Click "Restore System From Factory Default". Click "Next" to begin the restoration process. The process could take anywhere between 30 and 90 minutes.

Restore hp pavilion dv7 1464nr to factory settings windows

Step 1:
Which operating system ?
Restore Hp laptop factory settings without a Restore Disc Turn on the HP laptop. When the blue HP screen appears, press the "F10" key repeatedly until the "Recovery Menu" appears. A progress indicator informs you of the time before the recovery process is to take place. Click "Next" in the Recovery Menu. Decide whether you want to perform a nondestructive or destructive recovery. A "nondestructive recovery" does not format the laptop's hard drive or erase any personal files on your laptop. However, a "destructive recovery" formats your laptop's hard drive and erases any personal files you have on your laptop. Click "Yes" to execute a "Normal, nondestructive recovery." The restore process begins and your laptop restarts. Alternatively, to execute a destructive recovery, click "Advanced." Click "Yes" to start the "Destructive recovery." The restore process begins and your laptop restarts.

Restoring with CDs Back up all crucial user files if you are able to do so. If your computer will not burn CDs, use flash drives of 4GB or higher to store your data. Alternatively, you can use your network to transfer files. You can then back up your data to CDs at your leisure. Detach peripheral devices such as removable media drives, USB drives and your printer before recovering. Also remove any additional hard drives by disconnecting the cable from the back of the computer. Leave your monitor, mouse and keyboard attached to the computer. Shut down your computer. Place the first recovery CD in the CD drive. If your recovery files are written on a partition, you may be able to select system recovery from the splash screen and your computer starts. Select the recovery option you would like to use. To perform a destructive recovery, click the "Advanced" menu option. Select "Destructive Recovery" and click "Next." To perform a non-destructive, or system, recovery, click "Next" from the opening screen. Watch the computer while it is recovering to the factory settings. Watch for any errors, as the computer will wait indefinitely for a response from you, slowing down recovery time. Also, you may need to insert additional recovery CDs as the recovery program requests them. b> Restoring With Recovery Manager Click the Windows "Start" menu, type "Recovery" in the Search field and press "Enter." Click "Advanced Options," choose "System Recovery" and select "Next." If you are prompted to use Microsoft's recovery program, select "No." Choose the option to back up your files, if you haven't done it already. Once that is complete, choose "Next" to begin reformatting the drive and returning the system to factory settings.

At the risk of losing your data (suggest you back this up 1st), you can

How to restore my presario C500

Restore to factory settings? or a System Restore?

For factory restore (All Data wil be Lost), tab the f11 key while booting the computer and enter PC recovery. Go to Advance options and Select the option of "restoring the system back to factory settings". in case u do not go to PC recovery after multilple attempts, there is no partition. Use Recovery cds.

System Resore : All programs > Accessories > System Tools > System restore. Select a date and Follow instructions(No Data Loss)

No system restore

This is normal. As I said, System Restore does not restore your personal files. So, as you said, you unzipped those files to your desktop. That means the 50 files are your personal files. System Restore typically never touches your personal files, so restoring to the previous day would not have removed the 50 files.

So no worries, your System Restore feature is still working as it should.

Let me know if I need to explain anything in more detail or if I can assist you with something else.
