Question about Televison & Video
Is there a way to enter the setup menu (specifically to adjust the white balance) without the remote (which has been lost)? I can only seem to change the volume, contrast, brightness, colour, bass, treble and balance by holding down the 'F' button on the TV
There is service menu option to adjust the white balance. But is is a semi skilled work. If you wish to get more details, check this site linked
below. Pull up older posts there. Check
the site with patience, as it has over 2350 posts now. All are related to electronic equipment
repair help. If you search the site in
Timeslide option, which can be selected from the drop down list at the top left
of the display window, it will be easy to locate the related post. You can also do a search by type in the
brand name to your device into its search box at the top right of display
window. You must have knowledge in electronics to follow.

this is the same type of problem happening with other rca models and I know it is the EPROM CHIP but why this is failing is either because of design flaw , dirty enviroment that they were made in , to much voltage or current to the chip or too much of a draw from the chip causing it to fail . Or even a random frequency from the IR sensor or its circut I'm still investigating and testing.
leave the tv unplugged for at least 3 weeks durring this time resolder any solder that don't look good , I did this and it lasted for about 6 months(always plugged in to the wall) before it started doing it again. model # 27v412t

It is always more difficult to operate the menu features of a tv using the manual buttons on the tv. I recommend you unplug the ac cord of the tv from the wall for a day while you go out and buy a universal remote control. After plugging the tv back in and turning it on initially most television on screen prompts immediately direct you to the set up menu which includes setting the language.
Follow the instructions on the universal remote and program the remote to the tv using the power button on the remote to determine if you have reached the right code. It will then be possible to operate the menu features of the tv via the remote control and thus change the language back to english.
