Ensure you ahve the correct wireless drivers installed, you can check this by clicking start (assuming you are running windows 7) - typing "device manager" - you will see the progranm appear in the list - click on it, then looking at the list of hardware, ensure there are not yellow question marks beside anything. if so, download and install the latest version of your wireless drivers here: http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/DriverDownload.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodNameId=4095873&taskId=135&prodTypeId=321957&prodSeriesId=4095872&lang=en&cc=us
Choose the version of windows you are using and download the wireless drivers under "network" and install them.

If there is no switch on the side of the laptop or front of the laptop, then it might be controlled by a button above the keyboard or by some keystrokes such as hitting the FN or ALT key then the responding key that toggles the bluetooth. it's dependent upon the wireless being on so make sure you have the wireless on.

Sony vaio VGN NS15G/S NOT CONNECT INTERNET! ASK FOR SWITCH ON HARDWARE INTERNET SWITCH

Your laptop has a hardware wireless switch to turn on or turn off wireless transmission.
Look for it and make sure it is turned on.
I don't know your laptop model, but the switch is probably located in the font of the computer, besides the SD card slot. It might be marked "Wireless" and when turned a light should signal it.

Wireless LAN switch not working - can it be set any other way

Hi, Unfortunately no, most laptops uses a miniPCI WiFi Card with a switch that is hardwired to one of its pins. That pin must receive a signal (or absence thereof) to activate. Control Panel activation is actually the enable/disable feature, but it's still got to be mechanically switch on, otherwise it will still not function even if enabled (which I suspect you already have tried). Although there might be a way to trick the wifi into thinking it was mechanically switch on, however it is no longer swtichable to off (meaning always on). First, you must determine if your laptop uses a miniPCI WiFi Card similar to the image shown below left. If yes, you have to cover pin # 7 as illustrated below mid image. You would need Scotch tape about 1.0mm wide and 4.0mm long to cover the pin. Of course the usual precaution applies, AC power off, battery removed, possible void of warranty, can possibly make your unit inoperable (unlikely though still possible) and others as may be applicable. Good luck and hope this works for you. Post again how things turn up or should you need further information. Kind regards.
