SOURCE: Why did my HP Pavilion ze2000 screen go black?

john79:

I know that you had a chat about this matter, and I hope that your issue was solved. However, I had made a note of it when I saw the chat go through. I was unable to help at that time, but remembered having seen something of this nature and wanted to follow through on it.

Although the ze2000 is not listed, other 2000 models are listed in the following link as defective - and recognized as such by HP - with this very specific defect. (Please see http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/fastFaqLiteDocument?lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&product=18703&docname=c01087194.)

Again, if your issue has already been solved, congratulations. Otherwise, I hope that the information provided here will be of use to you, either in fixing the equipment problem yourself (perhaps with a BIOS update) or by convincing HP to do something about it. At least you would be armed with good solid documentation of their recognized issue!

If this information assists you in resolving the problem, please take a moment to rate the solution at a "FixYa" level. If you do not feel that you can rate at a "FixYa", please post back with more information regarding what has occurred subsequently and/or more details regarding the situation, and I will gladly help you until we have reached a definitive solution. Thank you for using and rating FixYa!

SOURCE: Pavilion dv7 laptop driver problem BSOD

Hi,

DV7 is not designed for XP, to get around the issue you may be able to change the BIOS setting for the SATA controller to work in IDE mode(depending on the BIOS) or you can use the XP installer option to install a SATA/RAID driver during the installer boot sequence. To offer you this I will need to know the model # and Serial # on the white sticker on the bottom of your laptop or the make and model of the SATA controller.

Try the Bios option and reply back with the requested info if it's not a viable option and I will see if there is an XP driver available for your controller.

If this laptop is still under warrantee, I'd get it replaced. You could spend hours/days tracking down the cause of this. You could spend hours/days updating faulty drivers, running diagnostic tests such as Memtest, HDTune. You may even fix it - however what's to say the problem doesn't re-occur somewhere later in life.

That's why we have warrantees. I'd use it if you can.

Blue screen frequently appears, and it reboot by itself? pavillion g7-1070us

A blue screen often called Blue Screen Of Death, BSOD, indicates that something is wrong with the computer. Usually it is a driver that is not correct or corrupt.
You need to specifically identify that the BSOD message is. If the system reboots before you can read it, boot the system while hitting F8 many times per second until you see a black and white screen with a number of options. Towards the bottom will be one regarding automatic restart on error. Uncheck that option. Now the BSOD will stay on the screen and you can post the stop code here to get help.
I hope this helps. I do this for fun & feedback not $$$

I have an hp m9500t quad core. it runs fine for 2 to 3 hours then gives windows process error and shuts down with a bsod. i can shut it down and use it again the next day and "I am typing this message...

You need to provide the stop error code and the technical information that you are getting on the BSOD screen. Because the troubleshooting varies for different error codes. You can try doing a bios default and after that u can go to safe mode with networking and from there u can go to the hp website to find the latest update for the bios of the pc.

Yes, the GPU is faulty. either replace the systemboard or reflow the GPU. Second option is cheaper and you can do it yourself. There's a link for a diy guide to fix that issue.

FN+F5 hot key causes boot problem

Is this the first time you have attempted this before?
Try updating the driver for the video. Look at the laptop manufacture's website for the lastest drivers.
Attempt this again. Might even want to uninstall the driver and reinstall.

Blue screen and the charger works sometimes

blue screen aka bsod. when you get this bsod it will show you stop error code. you need to get the code to identify the exact issue you're having. If the bsod occures after the dell logo issue might be the video card or memory. if the bsod occures after windows logo then if might be caused by a corrupted windows updates or windows system file corruption. if the bsod occured after dell logo then check your memory if you have 2 ram modules try to remove 1 ram first then try booting your system using only 1 ram, try to swap and isolate reseat and teach eash slot on each ram module. if bsod occures after windows logo then try to run a test for your hard drive Fn+Power. If no errors it might be windows file corruption which needs to be restored or re-installing OS.
