SOURCE: My Sony Bravia LCD TV keeps switching picture

Do a factory reset. I had the same problem and it worked for mine. And it doesn't cost a thing.

  • Press the home button on the remote to go to the cross bar thing.
  • Choose settings
  • Look For set up
  • Scroll down to factory setting and restore them.
  • After that it will go to set up mode when it asks home or shop/display select "home".

This will disable the Demo Mode.

TV will not remember settings Sony Bravia KDL 40S4011

Probably you are in "shop" mode of TV. Try to reset your TV and go through initial setup. Most important - choose "home" instead of "shop" when asked during initial setup. Resetting - keep up arrow pressed and switch of TV. Keep the button pressed when TV automatically switch back on. This will reset TV to factory defaults.

KDL-52S5100 Picture settings always revert back to "vivid" mode after 5 mins or so.

More than likely the TV is in the "retail" mode which intentionally reverts to the "vivid" mode after a short period of time on the other settings, deemed best for retailer display puposes.

Follow the "return to factory settings" instructions found in the operators manual, pg 21 of KDL52S5100. Only the first half of the instructions are needed to put the TV in "home" mode, the 2nd slection to make after "language. After you have slected "home" I do not beleiev you need to any go further into the setup menu.

"Turn the TV on. Press and hold the "^" (up arrow) button on the remote and then push the "Power" button on the TV. Release the "up" arrow."

You should now be back to start, select langauge and home mode and then exit.

You now should be good to go and your picture mode selections should now stay put.

Sony has live tech help "chat" and I would suggest using them if this doesn't get it done - but I'm 99.95% sure this is your fix.

When i change the picture settings to my custom selections, it always reverts back to the vivid preset after about 5 minutes.

Most likely you are in "retail" mode which intentionally reverts back to "vivid" which is deemed best for store display purposes.

Go to pg 21 of the manual and follow the first half of the reset instructions. Once you've chosen "home" (after first selecting "langauge") you need not go any deeper into set-up mode, just exit at this point.

99.95% sure this will solve your problem and your "picture" selections will now stay put.

I own a Sony Bravia KDL-32V2000 and whenever I 'tun off' and 'turn back on' I have to re-dedicate the TV i.e go into menus external ouutputs, then scroll down to AV4. Surely there must be a way arouns...

Unfortunately I am still to resolve this problem but due to having recently been made redundant I am not in a 'financial position' to pay for a 'remedy!

Sorry

Tv pic keeps going to vivid mode and settings. how do i get the picture mode to stay on a setting other then vivid

Yes if the TV is in Showroom mode it will do that. It is to correct for all the would-be button pushers. There is key combination to fix that on my Samsung DLP. I hope to never set and thus have to remove it. I recommend AVSforum.com and for you to find the thread on your model. Vivid is a good word as is showroom to use to search. You might try Google with KDL... and those words to search but the board is better. First check how many responses before reading all, it can run to hundreds of pages and they have their own search engine. Sorry, I could not find it in a medium search, so good luck. Lg Plasma Display settings keep switching

When you boot up your tv for the first time, you get to choose between home and shop-mode.
In your case, he TV is set to "shop-mode".
Then it will go back to factory settings after 5-10 minutes. (so that customers won't mess up the settings all the time)

So change the settings from shop to home, and your problem is fixed!
